Headline News from the Brainerd Dispatch

The new Crow Wing County Recycling Center located at the landfill site is a One-Stop-Drop for all recycling and hazardous waste disposal needs. Crow Wing County sponsors two recycling drop sites that are available for use to all county residents.

  • Crow Wing County Landfill, 15728 State Highway 210, Brainerd,
  • Ideal Township Transfer Station, 33503 West Island Lake Drive, Pequot Lakes.

Crow Wing County continues to exceed the state minimum recycling rate of 35%. Overall, just over 500 tons of household recycling materials were recycled through the County Recycling Program at its drop sites, and almost 2,500 tons through the curbside recycling programs last year.

“We are meeting the state standards, enhancing recycling efforts, and minimizing the waste sent to our landfill. Local businesses participate in programs such as Food to People, textile recycling, and deconstruction re-use, which kept 2,586 tons of materials out of the landfill in 2024,” stated Jessica Shea, Crow Wing County operations manager, in a news release.

The Landfill and Recycling Center is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Starting May 1 through Oct. 31, it will also be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
