Cairo, Feb. 22 (BNA): Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in the 7th Arab Parliament Conference in Cairo, held in cooperation with the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
He emphasised the initiatives and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that highlighted the need for a united Arab and international stance to protect the Palestinian people, end the war and secure their legitimate rights.
The meeting saw the endorsement of the document that the conference adopted supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people while rejecting plans for displacement, annexation and the liquidation of the Palestinian cause.
His delegation included Dr. Ibtisam Mohamed Saleh Al Dallal and Dr. Adel Abdulrahman Al Maawda.
The Chairman also noted His Majesty the King's ongoing support for international and regional initiatives that promote inter-civilisational dialogue, tolerance and a rejection of violence. These initiatives include His Majesty the King's directive at the 33rd Arab Summit in Bahrain in May 2024, where a detailed analysis of the critical phase facing the Palestinian cause was presented.
He noted the King's call for an international peace conference in the Middle East alongside full recognition of the State of Palestine and its admission as a member of the United Nations.
The Chairman added that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, continues to promote peace and coexistence while rejecting violent and military solutions. The Kingdom’s commitment for the Palestinian right to establish an independent state on the June 4th 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and without displacement. This stance aligns with the two-state solution, international law, the Arab Peace Initiative and full UN membership for Palestine.
He noted that Bahrain strongly condemned irresponsible Israeli remarks regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi territory, calling such statements a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter. The Kingdom emphasised full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its security, stability and sovereignty.
The Chairman further remarked that Bahrain continues, through its executive and legislative authorities, to support efforts that foster Arab solidarity and promote peace, security and stability, emphasising that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but a culture that must be nurtured.
He emphasised that the gathering aimed to draft an Arab parliamentary document reaffirming the steadfast support of Arab parliaments for the Palestinian cause and their united stance in supporting the right of the Palestinian people to establish a state with East Jerusalem as its capital, while rejecting any plans for displacement, annexation or liquidation of the Palestinian cause.
He observed that the region is undergoing significant political and economic changes which demand urgent, collective solutions and decisive measures to serve the common interest of the nations and peoples.
The Chairman also noted that as representatives of the Arab peoples gathered as a joint parliamentary body, they confirmed that peace is the only option for achieving stability and sustainable development, that dialogue is the best means to resolve disputes, and that Israeli forces should withdraw from the Gaza Strip. He called for the protection of civilians and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian, food, medical aid and fuel in accordance with international humanitarian law.
The Chairman expressed optimism that the gathering of Arab parliamentary leaders would enhance communication among legislative bodies and support the shared aspirations of the Arab world for prosperity, security and stability. He emphasised the importance of constructive cooperation with governments to further develop constitutional institutions and advance the democratic process, thereby creating an effective framework for Arab cooperation based on political, economic, cultural and security integration through peaceful dialogue.
