Jesus Heals a Man on the Sabbath

(Mat 12:9–14; Luk 6:6–11 )

And He entered^G1525 again^G3825 into a synagogue^G4864; and a man^G444 was there^G1563 with^G2192 a withered^G3583 hand^G5495.

Mar 3:2

Mar 3:2And they were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.

Mar 3:3

Mar 3:3And He *said to the man with the withered hand, “[fn]Get up and come forward!”

Mar 3:4

Mar 3:4And He *said to them, “Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

Mar 3:5

Mar 3:5And after looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He *said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

Mar 3:6

Mar 3:6And the Pharisees went out and immediately began taking counsel together with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him.

Mar 3:7

Mar 3:8

Mar 3:8and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him.

Mar 3:9

Mar 3:9And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him;

Mar 3:10

Mar 3:10for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him.

Mar 3:11

Mar 3:11And whenever the unclean spirits were seeing Him, they would fall down before Him and cry out, saying, “You are the Son of God!”

Mar 3:12

Mar 3:12And He earnestly warned them not to [fn]tell who He was.

Jesus Appoints the Twelve

(Mat 10:1–4; Luk 6:12–16 )

Mar 3:13

And He *went^G305 up^G305 on the mountain^G3735 and *summoned^G4341 those whom^G3739 He Himself^G846 wanted^G2309, and they came^G565 to Him.

Mar 3:14

Mar 3:14And He appointed twelve [fn](whom He also named apostles) to be with Him and to send them out to preach,

Mar 3:15

Mar 3:15and to have authority to cast out the demons.

Mar 3:16

Mar 3:16And He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter),

Mar 3:17and James, the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means, “Sons of Thunder”);

Mar 3:18and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the [fn]Zealot;

Mar 3:19

Mar 3:19and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

Mar 3:20

Mar 3:21

Mar 3:21And when His own [fn]people heard this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.”

Mar 3:22

Mar 3:22And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by [fn]Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.”

Mar 3:23

Mar 3:23And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?

Mar 3:24

Mar 3:24“And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

Mar 3:25

Mar 3:25“And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.

Mar 3:26

Mar 3:26“And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but [fn]he is finished!

Mar 3:27

Mar 3:27“But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
