The global phenomenon swallowing whole neighbourhoods

Entire communities across Africa and Latin America are disappearing because of an extreme form of soil erosion. Experts have told the BBC that gully erosion is advancing at a worrying speed thanks to deforestation and the extreme weather caused by climate change and a lack of urban planning. The BBC’s population correspondent Stephanie Hegarty hears from people in two cities on the edge of a ravine.
