Just Meh
I don't know how I got this book. Thought I was grabbing book 3 of a series in listening to.
It was ok. A bunch of short stories, some good, some not so good.
Some readers are great like Roy and others I could barely stand and almost refunded.
Turns out there was also a game of Thrones story at the end which wasn't all that good.
It was almost 30hrs so not a bad value.

a few standouts, and mostly good stories
This was a mix mash of different stories set in different worlds, including the real world. There are a lot of good stories, some poor stories and good performances attached to all of them. The standout stories to me were:
The Inn of the Seven Blessings” by Matt Hughes
Ill Seen in Tyre” by Steven Saylor
The Curious Affair of the Dead Wives” by Lisa Tuttle
The Lightning Tree” by Patrick Rothfuss

Mixed bag with some genuinely great stories
This is a very eclectic collection of stories. Some are stronger than others. Same goes for the voice acting. But overall the quality is at a high standard.

I enjoyed it
Like any collection of short stories there’s standouts.
But I was engaged and drawn into many of these fantasy worlds,
I would recommend

May need some skipping
Some of the stories were hard to get through, but some of these were fantastic.

Great stories by some outstanding authors
Great book. I've got so many new authors to delve into. They were all well narrated and the stories all drew me in.

excellent stories excellent readings
if you really want to expand your genre set this is a great book to go with, many excellent excellent authors covering a great breath of stories (though mainly sci fi and fantasy), it is also read beautifully with different readers for each story.

Overall disappointing experience
Purchased this book as I was very keen to hear some stories from some new authors as well as Neil Gaiman and George R R Martin. I skipped several stories as withinin 10 minutes of listening to them I had lost all interest. Even disappointed with the Neil Gaiman story and half the time had no idea how the characters came into play or why they were mainly comprised of talking humanoid animals? Overall the less than average narration may have contributed to its complete lacklustre. Tawny Petticoats was one of the few I managed to listen to all the way through but found it very odd and again the narration with forced and badly executed Southern accents probably contributed to its failure. Tough Times All Over was probably the only story I enjoyed, as well as the excellent narration by Gwendoline Christie, although I ended up giving up before I even got to the George R R Martin story and requested a refund.
