From September 4 to November 1, prepare to experience love as a revolutionary force at ARTIVISM: Heart On Fire. This year’s festival theme for your 8th annual UBC ARTIVISM festival celebrates existing cultures of care, and invites new realities centred on compassion. Through radically creative spaces and bringing marginalized artistic expressions centre stage, we invite you to join us in igniting love towards liberation and setting oppressive systems ablaze.
Produced by UBC Arts and Culture District with 2024 festival Artistic Director Jesse Medros, in partnership with our Exposure UBC student club team, this annual festival highlights stories of resilience and both community and student activist art that challenges dominant narratives through live performances, poetry, drag, art making, music and more.

“Our current systems value wealth, hierarchy and exploitation but what if instead we centered love? Be part of ARTIVISM: Heart On Fire that explores the power of love within revolutionary works and imagines a new world of compassion by highlighting cultures of care through creativity” – Jesse Medros, Festival Artistic Director
