Standard Poodle Puppy's Hilarious Daycare Howls Are Like Music to the Ears

Whether you're getting ready to bring home a new dog or are studying up on your favorite breeds, it helps to know what's considered 'standard' or 'normal' for each kind of dog. This can help you prepare to navigate pet parenthood, but it can also just be fascinating!

For example, everyone knows that Siberian Huskies are incredibly vocal. These Northern breed dogs can communicate with one another across fields of snow and sleet, but they aren't the only pups who delight in an operatic performance. Just ask dog owner Bella!

She meets plenty of dogs through her job as a groomer, but the video she received from her dog's daycare has people in disbelief. This Standard Poodle puppy is howling like a Husky! The November 11 video delighted so many more people than just the Poodle's parents, and you'll understand why as soon as you see (and hear) it.

LOL! I would have bet anything that it was a Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute howling so incessantly, but I was shocked and delighted to see the adorable young Poodle instead. At least I wasn't the only one!

A commenter named Drenzie joked, "He forgot what breed he was. He's a Huskadoodle now." Haha! A Husky-Poodle mix would be a gorgeous and stubborn dog, but this young dog is all Poodle. He's content singing to himself if need be, and he hasn't forgotten his roots!

Other commenters shared giggles over the other Standard Poodle's hilarious reaction to the dog's howling. Clearly, he didn't feel compelled to join in! Even dog owner Bella admitted, "They may not be friends after that howl," but by the looks of it, he has plenty of friends around him already.

Why Do Dogs Howl?

It's true that any dog can learn to howl, but only a few breeds are famous for their vocal abilities such as Huskies and Malamutes. These Nordic breeds need to be able to communicate with one another through heavy snowstorms and loud rain, but thousands of years of evolution has helped them develop this skill.

While Poodles developed as companion pets and hunting dogs, they also developed a bit of a noisy reputation. This is partially because Poodles are such a high-energy breed and because they were often trained to bark when hunting. Companion Poodles don't need to bark so much in residential homes, which can make them seem like a noisier breed.

It's important to remember that every dog has their own behaviors, preferences, and even their own barks. Some may even prefer to howl like this fluffy Poodle!
