There is truly no bond like the one between a human and their pet. They’re like our children— and they know it too. One woman was so tickled when talking to her Cockatoo recently. The bird knows he’s special. He’s a mama’s boy! And he’s not afraid to say it either.

Toad is a handsome, sweet guy. And he loves his mama mightily. In a video the woman shared recently, it shows her having an adorable conversation with her Cockatoo son.

The Cockatoo was wide awake and alert in the video his mama shared. Why wouldn’t he be? He was with his favorite person, so of course he was a little ray of sunshine.

“Hi!” Good morning,” the woman told the Cockatoo, as he was perched on her hand.

“Hi!” he replied.

“Are you a good boy?” the woman asked. To which the bird replied with the sweetest little “yes.”

“You baby good boy,” the bird mom praised.

“It’s the ‘yes!’ for me,” she joked in the caption.

People in the comments section loved Toad and the sweet sounds he makes. “Ohhh how beautiful and the name I am obsessed,” wrote one person. “The little kiss sound,” chimed in another commenter. “Soooooo beautiful,” praised one person. “Such a sweet boy,” someone else wrote.

How to Teach Your Cockatoo to Talk

Birds might just be the coolest pet. It’s true! We know there are tons of dog and cat lovers out there, but there’s one thing a bird can do that these animals can’t —talk. Not every bird breed can speak mind you, but there are tons of birds out there that can be trained to chat it up with their humans.

If you want to teach your bird to talk, first you’ll need to consider what kind of bird you have. Parrots, budgies, ravens, and crows can all be taught words. Some have extensive vocabularies and can both understand what they’re owner is saying and respond!

Once you know that your bird can talk, you can start by teaching them some very basic words and phrases. “Hello,” “bye- bye,” and “night-night” are all good places to start. You can also start by teaching your bird their own name! The key is to say the words in a positive tone. Typically birds will find one word easiest to remember. So use that first word to train them. The key will then be to repeat the word or phrase again and again until your bird starts to catch on. Then you’ll slowly grow their vocabulary.

In time your bird will know several words and phrases — they might even be able to have conversations with you, just like Toad here.
