The copy is ex libris but in very good condition and very competitively priced.
This paperback edition from Phaidon is part of their long-running series of monographs of individual painters which have been around in various editions since the 70s – this expanded edition dates from 1994 and contains 88 illustrations, 55 in colour. The reproduction quality is fairly good given that they have little changed since the first printing; they consist mainly of large full-page plates with descriptive text on the facing page – the standard format for the series.
The introductory essay by Richard Shone is illustrated with mainly black and white images and provides a useful biographical introduction to the artist.
A good (but basic) reference work on an artist who really should be better documented in more lavish English-language volumes than are currently available.
