I keep comparing Boa to the Cranberries, since they offer so much of the same fare: outstanding music, a singer with a wonderful voice, good songs overall. This album, apparently Boa's first, is as excellent as anything by the Cranberries in their early years, and better than many of this band's latest offerings. The music is the band's greatest strength: mellifluous and mystical, it exhibits a wide range and variety of influences. The main singer, Jasmine, has a beautiful and unique voice. The first five songs or so are the best, but the latter half of the album is more of a mixed quality. My favorites are: #1 (the famous and beautiful "Duvet", of the anime "Lain" fame), #2, "Twilight, #4 "Rain, #5 "Elephant", and #9 "Welcome". The rest of the songs range from very good to okay, but the overall album is of very strong quality. Unfortunately, Boa never seemed to gain wide popularity, which might explain the lack of later offerings. This is extremely unfortunate, as the band's high quality should have ensured it a place at least as high as the Cranberries.
Loved this band ever since coming across Serial Experiments Lain. Reminds me of Cocteau Twins and a grungier sounding Cranberries. Would recommend this one for fans of both bands.
This is my favorite cd. The first time I heard the music was on the Lain opening. And I just loved it luckily the Lain lunch box came with a music cd of Boa. So I searched for other music cds done by Boa but all were imports, finally this came out and I just love it. My favorite songs are "Twilight", "Fool","Elephant", "Scoring", and what the hell why not say all the songs are my favorite. If you like Japanese music you'll love Boa and it's well worth your money.
