It was an afternoon to remember for two local amateur boxers from the LV Boxing Fitness Academy Jeremiah “Blessed Hands” Casas and Javier Fuentes, as they both triumphed in their respective bouts at the San Fernando Boxing Show in San Antonio held at the Parks & Recreation Department.
In front of an excited crowd on Saturday, Mar. 22, the duo proved their skill and determination, each scoring impressive victories and bringing home a perfect record for the event.
Casas fought above his weight division again in order to just have a chance at a fight after his opponent pulled out at the very last minute from a San Angelo Championship event Mar. 22.
This time around Casas fought in the 132-pound weight class and Fuentes in the 125-pound weight division. Both captured their wins by decision.
With another win in the bag, Jeremiah is now focusing on his next step in his amateur boxing career. He is already setting his sights on larger competitions and continuing to refine his technique. While Jeremiah’s immediate goals include more matches, the dream of turning professional someday is never far from his mind.
“We’re just getting started,” said Jeremiah’s father, Mike Casas. “This is only the beginning. He’s got big plans, and he’s ready for whatever comes next.” “This is just another step on the ladder. Jeremiah’s focused on the future and taking his game to the next level. He knows what he’s capable of,” he said.
Jeremiah “Blessed Hands” Casas and Javier Fuentes will now prepare for the South Texas Stampede being put on by the Kingsville Boxing Club at the JK Northway Coliseum Saturday, Mar. 29.
