When the day of the state powerlifting meet arrived, this Longhorn was ready. The atmosphere in the competition hall was filled with anticipation as powerlifters from all over the state gathered to compete. Jadrian Torres had been here before, but the nerves were still present — this time, he was defending a title. But he knew that he had done the work and that his preparation would carry him through.

The road to becoming a two-time state champion wasn’t easy. After claiming the title in 2024, Torres knew that repeating as champion would require even more focus, discipline, and hours in the gym. From early morning training sessions to intense after-school workouts, he pushed his body to new limits, constantly striving for improvement.

Throughout the offseason, Torres worked to refine his technique in all three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. He studied his previous performances, analyzed his weaknesses, and developed a strategy to make him stronger and more consistent.

Winning a second state title was more than just about lifting heavy weights for Jadrian, it was about proving to himself that he could handle the pressure and repeat his success.

Jadrian’s victory in the 123-pound weight class will inspire future Agua Dulce generations of powerlifters at the school to strive for greatness, to push themselves beyond their limits, and to never give up on their dreams.
