It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rex S. Ramón, 60, of Alice, Texas, on March 20, 2025. Rex was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love and dedication to his family and friends will forever be remembered. His service to the community and the countless lives he touched will remain in our hearts always.

Rex was born on September 28, 1964, in Corpus Christi, TX to Jose M. and Eulalia Ramón. He was raised in Robstown, Texas where he graduated from Robstown High School Class of 1983. He was a gifted baseball player and extremely dedicated to his studies. He continued his education at Del Mar College. His dedication to helping others inspired him to pursue a career in law enforcement, where he became a respected officer with specialized knowledge across multiple divisions.

Rex dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community with unwavering commitment, integrity, and honor. His law enforcement career began in 1985 as a Reserve Police Officer with the Robstown Police Department. In 1988, he joined the Alice Police Department, where his dedication and leadership quickly set him apart. Rising through the ranks, he became Sergeant of Criminal Investigation and Sergeant of Narcotics. His relentless pursuit of justice and tireless work ethic earned him the esteemed position of Chief of Police for the City of Alice, a role he held with distinction until his retirement in 2018.

Even in retirement, Chief Ramón’s passion for service never wavered. He continued as a reserve officer with the Duval County Sheriff’s Department, later serving as Chief of Police for the City of Robstown from 2021 to 2023. At the time of his passing, he was serving as an investigator with the Kleberg County Sheriff’s Department.

Beyond his distinguished law enforcement career, Rex S. Ramón was a dedicated entrepreneur and community leader. He founded Ramóns Rental in 1998 and, over the years, worked for ACT Safety, served as an investigator for Herrman & Herrman Law Firm, and provided security for local businesses and events. His generosity extended beyond his work. He proudly supported the Boys & Girls Club, the Alice Swim Team, and other organizations.

A man of deep faith, Rex was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth and St. Joseph Catholic Church and a proud 3rd-degree Knight of Columbus Council No. 3169. He lived with courage, humility, and a servant’s heart, always placing others before himself. Known for his kindness and wisdom, he never met a stranger and was always willing to guide and mentor others, especially in the field of law enforcement.

Rex is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eulalia Ramón, and his brothers, Roy (Sonia) Ramón and Leo (Silvia) Ramón.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 35 years, Jo Ann Ramón; his daughters, Monica (Rene) Rodriguez, Ashley (Mando) Olivarez, and Alyssa (Josue Franco) Ramón; his cherished grandsons, Maxx, Jaxx, and Daxx Olivarez; his siblings, Joe Ramón, Ray Ramón, Lee (Ruby) Ramón, and Lily (Jimmy) Morales; his in-laws, Juan and Frances Garibaldo; sister-in-law, Lisa (John) Porche; brother-in-law, JR (Nellie) Garibaldo; along with numerous extended family members and many dear friends, including his brothers and sisters in law enforcement, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Rex’s greatest joy was his family. A devoted father, he cherished his daughters and took immense pride in being a grandfather. His love for his wife was a constant source of strength, and their bond was one built on trust, love, and years of commitment. Rex’s selflessness, integrity, and faith were evident in everything he did. The impact he made on those around him will be remembered for years to come.
