The policeman, who was heard complaining about his life and claimed to be oppressed at work, drenched himself with a small bottle filled with gasoline, then set himself on fire using a lighter. He said before lighting himself on fire while repeatedly complaining about being oppressed, "We have no one except God... Look at my luck, I am oppressed and treated differently compared to my colleagues."

This comes after heightened complaints from several fellow policemen about "administrative injustice and psychological pressure" in Iraq's public security sectors. According to Erem News, the incident also reflects on recurring suicides among the Iraqi police and army.

Moreover, Iraq's Ministry of Interior has yet to issue a statement about the horrifying incident, which has left social media users and locals alike concerned.

A social media user on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote, "This scene is difficult in all its meanings. The longer this injustice continues, the more hope becomes distant."

Several others prayed to God for the man's safety and demanded that authorities for an answer about his health.
