WKYC news director Jonathan Adkins is leaving the Tegna owned Cleveland NBC affiliate after 16 years there.
Before being named news director in 2023, Adkins had been the station’s news content director since 2018.
On Monday, Tegna announced that John Treviño was taking over leadership of the station and would replace Micki Byrnes who is retiring in April.
We asked Tegna and Adkins about the move, but haven’t heard back.
He’s worked at the station since December of 2009 serving in roles as the station’s assistant news director, managing editor and executive producer of several shows and special projects.
Before joining Tegna, Adkins served as a senior producer for Cleveland’s WJW Fox affiliate. He began his career as a producer for NBC’s WHEC-TV in Rochester, New York.
