Bali has been regarded as a 'paradise island', 'island of thousand temples' and many other images to support the growth of tourism industry. In fact, the industry has been developed massively after a mass massacre of the leftists and radical populists associated with PKI (Communist Party of Indonesia) taking place in 1965-1966 led by General Soeharto. The images have been a strategy for romanticizing Balinese culture while simultaneously forgetting the traumatic tragedy of 1965. Although the history has been distorted by the regime and most Balinese are reluctant to talk about tragedy, a few Balinese youth has established a community called Taman 65 (1965 Park) as a learning circle to study and challenge the state history. This book is a collection of their thoughts on history, Balinese social dynamics, and contemporary issues in Bali that arguably cannot be separated from the 1965 event.

HRMJ is a business and management journal: we seek to publish excellent work that deals not simply with people and organisations, but with the management of people and the issues and tensions around the latter. As such, the journal is broadly multidisciplinary, the key focus being on advancing theory through empirical evidence, through consolidations and extensions of conceptual knowledge, through revisiting and extending existing theory, literature reviews, as well as the development of salient research methods. This extended editorial brings together a range of perspectives from and beyond the editorial team to advance understanding around developing work for publication. As such, it is intended not only to guide authors interested in publishing in HRMJ, but all with an interest in advancing their scholarly work. This is a prepublication version of the section on methods (pp. 841-843)

Ernst Mach (1900 Analysis of sensations): «Matter is our symbol and we are careful not to give value to symbols. Even more we will beware of the monstrous thought of explaining psychic phenomena with molecules and atoms. [...] The older generation of physicists and chemists would have disdained that matter, the persistence of a substance, was not considered. We will have to resort to a revolution in the way of thinking. Science suffers no harm if a persistent law replaces something useless and unknown. [...] It can happen, to the physiologist who does not take psychology into account, the same that happens to the one who, as they say, was looking for the donkey and was sitting on it. This is what happens to the researcher who follows the nervous pathways, supported by vague and abstract ideas, and finds himself having to connect the sensation of green with a process that takes place in the brain. That sensation appears to him as something new and wonderful. How can it result from chemistry or electric current? Wonder is not justified because one always works on sensations.»
