Linguistics and Literature Review
Translation of poetry is a hard nut to crack. Especially, when it is loaded with cultural connotations. Beyond any doubt, translation demands linguistic and cultural skills from a translator to express meanings. Hence, the process of translation becomes challenging when both the source language and the target language belong to two different language families. The present study explores the linguistic challenges faced by translators when translating Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s Urdu poetry into English. The researchers have found that translating Urdu metaphorical expressions and compound words used in Faiz’s Urdu poetry is near to impossible as these expressions are rooted in specific cultural, social, political and historical backgrounds.

In this paper I use Wittgenstein\u27s philosophy of language, specifically, considerations of the meaning of a word, in order to establish a groundwork for, and further illuminate, the messier areas of thinking about thinking and feeling about feeling that seem to occur across time. This messier , and perhaps even physical, under-grid creating our feelings across time is one that I paint to shift endlessly, in its own ever shifting moments of sentiment comparison. It is also one that I undertake to comprehend using a similarly configured process of infinitely splitting methods of thinking and feeling

This paper examines the syntax and semantics of sentir 'to feel'. In use, sentir takes different complement types with corresponding differences in meaning. Syntactically, sentir takes nouns, adjectives, past participles, and clauses. Semantically, it conveys physical, emotional and cognitive senses, as well as attitude and judgment meanings. We propose that nominal complements correlate with an unmediated physical and emotional perception of an object, while syntactic complements report a thought or opinion towards a proposition. Interestingly, adjectives and past participles describe the state, quality, or property of the perceived object; here, sentir(se) behaves as a pseudo-copulative verb taking a second predicate as a complement.
Emotional literacy, a term used frequently to describe the ability to comprehend emotion in oneself and others and to display emotions in ways that are deemed appropriate by the society in which one lives, has come to be identified as one of many literacies that are necessary to function in the 21 st century world. Other literacies that have come to be seen as a necessary part of life include: computer literacy, a skill which is assisted in the education system from the onset of schooling; visual literacy, a skill which is developed to some extent within classroom contexts and to a larger extent in art classes, and social literacy, a skill often focused upon as the result of contextual events in the classroom, or in the form of special programs, such as "Roots of Empathy" that specifically target social development. In schools today, the development of emotional literacy is often left to chance, where rather than facilitate children's emotion understanding, children a...
