For her entire career, Michelle Goldchain has focused on reporting on all things local.

Her first career after graduating from Longwood University in 2014 was as Editor of Curbed DC for Vox Media, where she reported on real estate and development in the D.C. area. She has since worked for or had bylines in a variety of D.C.-area publications, including Vox, Racked, Eater DC, Recode, Washington City Paper, DCist, Washingtonian, Washington Business Journal, Education Week, Greater Greater Washington and Technical.ly DC.

Her book, “D.C. by Metro: A History & Guide,” offers insight into the fascinating histories of notable historic sites near every WMATA station. Arcadia Publishing published the book in April 2019, which was later featured in The Washington Post and The Hill Rag.

As a full-fledged content creator, Michelle is also a photographer, videographer, visual artist and YouTuber.

Her artworks have been showcased in New York’s Rochester Contemporary Art Center and Grady Alexis Gallery, Washington, D.C.’s Rhizome Gallery and Pepco Edison Place Gallery, among others around the nation. Her digital illustrations have also been published in Curbed, Racked, 730DC, Hello Giggles, the Summerhouse digital zine and Rat World Magazine.

To further express her love for how fun and fantastic the art world can be, she serves as a co-creator, writer and host for the comedy YouTube show ‘Artsplained.’ Videos range from discussing art censorship to how one artist was able to argue that a urinal can be art.

As a food photographer/videographer, Michelle has worked with local restaurants like Fiola, Fiola Mare, Del Mar and Sfoglina, as well as Ada’s on the River, BARCA, SER, Rooster & Owl, Tonari, Nama Ko, ToriSumi Yakitori and others. Her photos have also been featured in publications like Eater DC, Washingtonian and The Infatuation DC.

Michelle has been a guest on WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi Show, SiriusXM’s Jennifer Hammond Show and the “You, Me Them, Everybody” podcast.
