Associate Producer/Audio Producer

Kay Perkins is an associate producer at WTOP.

A New England native, Kay served as a reporter, producer, and occasional anchor at Connecticut Public Radio. As a freelancer, her bylines have appeared in the Hartford Courant, the Connecticut Mirror, and public radio stations across New England.

Her proudest moment of her journalism career thus far was when her team received a National Association of Hispanic Journalists award for producing Connecticut Public Radio’s first-ever bilingual programming.

Kay spent six years in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in South Korea, Texas, California, and here in the D.C. region.

Kay loves storytelling in all forms: Outside of work, she has written, directed, produced, edited and acted in several plays and short films. She also enjoys baking, candle-making, collage, crocheting, podcasts, puns, reading, video games, and writing fiction. She is the proud owner of the world’s most photogenic dog.

She is a graduate of Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s in English and a minor in Film.
