Texas Working Families Party Announces 2022 Congressional Endorsements in Texas
The Texas Working Families Party has announced its endorsement of two House candidates for the 2022 midterm elections — Jessica Cisneros in Texas’ 28th Congressional District and Greg Casar in Texas’s 35th Congressional District.
Jessica is an immigraton and human rights attorney running to unseat Rep. Henry Cueller, an eighth-term incumbent and one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress. In 2020, Jessica narrowly lost her primary bid against Rep. Cuellar by less than 2,800 votes and is now hoping to make up the difference with a primary rematch in 2022.
Like many Texans in her district, Jessica is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and has drawn national support for her commitment to fighting for “La Gente.” She has witnessed first-hand the effects of inhumane border enforcement, and is running to fundamentally restructure the immigration system and deliver policies that serve the interests of working families in Texas’ 28th Congressional District.
Greg Casar is an Austin City Council Member and community organizer running for Texas’ 35th Congressional District after longtime Democratic incumbent Rep. Lloyd Doggett’s decision to run for re-election in Texas’ newly drawn 37th Congressional District.
The son of Mexican immigrants and former policy director at the Workers Defense Project, Greg is the youngest person ever elected to the Austin City Council. A champion for working families and a strong advocate for policies that protect against gentrification-driven displacement, Greg is committed to taking the fight for a people-first future to the halls of Congress.
The Working Families Party is a progressive grassroots political party building a movement to ring in an era of social and economic transformation in America.
