Fin.K.L (Korean: 핑클) was a South Korean pop girl group that debuted in 1998. Their name stands for Fin Killing Liberty, and was intended to mean that the group stood against "the oppression of all freedom" (fin means "end" in French). The group's name was selected by a poll of young people by the record company before the group's inception. This is the reason for the lack of clear meaning in Fin.K.L's English name, for the Korean name was selected first.
Fin.K.L was one of the most popular K-pop girl groups, selling for over 2.2 million albums along with S.E.S. Fin.K.L won numerous music awards until its unofficial end in 2002, when all of the members pursued solo careers in different areas of entertainment. Although they regrouped for a digital single in 2005, each member of the group has left DSP Entertainment, signed with different companies, and pursued different entertainment careers individually. Fin.K.L is technically still in existence, but has remained inactive and defunct since 2005.
Kélé is an Afro-Lucian religion, originated from the Djiné people of the Babonneau region. Its primary deities are Ogun, Shango and Eshu. Kélé ceremonies include the drumming of the tanbou manman (mother drum) and the tanbou ich (child drum) of the Batá drum family. The religion has its origins in African slaves of the Babonneau region. The religion is strongly connected to the Ogun festival in Nigeria. Although, it is mainly concerned with three principal deities; Ogun, Eshu and Shango. Repressed by the Roman Catholic church until the early 1960s, it had been practiced in secrecy underground. The ritual includes the display of smooth stones (one of Shango's worship items) and Iron/Steel items in honor of Ogun.
