Properties of water

Water (H
2
O
) is the most abundant compound on Earth's surface, covering 70 percent of the planet. In nature, water exists in liquid, solid, and gaseous states. It is in dynamic equilibrium between the liquid and gas states at standard temperature and pressure. At room temperature, it is a tasteless and odorless liquid, nearly colorless with a hint of blue. Many substances dissolve in water and it is commonly referred to as the universal solvent. Because of this, water in nature and in use is rarely pure and some properties may vary from those of the pure substance. However, there are also many compounds that are essentially, if not completely, insoluble in water. Water is the only common substance found naturally in all three common states of matter and it is essential for all life on Earth. Water makes up 55% to 78% of the human body.

  • H2O (software)

H2O is open-source software for big-data analysis. It is produced by the start-up H2O.ai (formerly 0xdata), which launched in 2011 in Silicon Valley. The speed and flexibility of H2O allow users to fit hundreds or thousands of potential models as part of discovering patterns in data. With H2O, users can throw models at data to find usable information, allowing H2O to discover patterns. Using H2O, Cisco estimates each month 20 thousand models of its customers' propensities to buy.

H2O's mathematical core is developed with the leadership of Arno Candel; after H2O was rated as the best "open-source Java machine learning project" by GitHub's programming members, Candel was named to the first class of "Big Data All Stars" by Fortune in 2014. The firm's scientific advisors are experts on statistical learning theory and mathematical optimization.

The H2O software runs can be called from the statistical package R and other environments. It is used for exploring and analyzing datasets held in cloud computing systems and in the Apache Hadoop Distributed File System as well as in the conventional operating-systems Linux, Mac OS, and Microsoft Windows. The H2O software is written in Java, Python, and R. Its graphical-user interface is compatible with four popular browsers: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer.

  • H2O (Scottish band)

H2O were a Scottish synthpop band known for their hit single, "I Dream to Sleep".

    Profile

They were formed in Glasgow in 1978 by lead singer Ian Donaldson (who used to be part of punk band Skroo), Alan McGhee (Bass Player - who ultimately managed Oasis in the 90s - but, eventually replaced by Colin Ferguson), Kenny Dorman (drums - who, latterly, introduced Ross Alcock, both of them from Largs in Ayrshire) on keyboards, David Wells guitar, and Colin Gavigan (Saxophone) who all participated in writing the band's songs songwriting. The band's first independent single "Hollywood Dream" was released in 1981 on their own independent label Spock Records. Radio play (initially via Kenny Hislop, drummer with Slik) & BBC Scotland's Street Buzz helped raise their profile.

In 1982, with the addition of new guitarist Pete Kean, the band signed to RCA Records. Their biggest success (as they opened up for Kajagoogoo on their UK tour) was "I Dream to Sleep" which reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart in June 1983. The follow-up single "Just Outside of Heaven" reached number 38 later the same year. The following year, they released their only album Faith, but further success eluded them. In 1985, as a result, the band split soon after.

    H2O (Hall & Oates album)

H2O is the eleventh studio album from Hall & Oates, released in 1982. A hit, it featured three top 10 US singles, one being "Maneater", which was the biggest hit of their career, spending four weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album title is a play on the chemical formula for water, where "H" is for Hall and "O" is for Oates.

H2O is certified double platinum by the RIAA with sales of over two million copies.

In 2009, Sony Music Custom Marketing Group released a triple pack of Hall & Oates albums. Along with this album, the pack included Daryl Hall & John Oates and Ooh Yeah!.
