The Quiett (Hangul: 더콰이엇), born as Shin Dong Gab (Hangul: 신동갑), is a South Korean rapper and a producer.[1] He arrived at the Korean hip hop scene back in 2003,[2] at the young age of 16. He debuted with his first mixtape, which was christened Music and was released back in 2005. [3] From the time since he stepped into the Korean hip hop industry, The Quiett has collaborated with many other artists in the field of specialism, such as Dok2, Dumbfoundead, Crucial Star, Jerry. K, Kebee and many more. The Quiett was the co-founder and one of the main producers of Soul Company. But after the disbandment announced, he moved on to become the CEO of Illionaire Records, alongside with Dok2. [4]
Back On The Beats Vol. 2 is one of The Quiett's mixtapes, and is a sequel to Back On The Beats Vol. 1. The rhythm and melody of the whole mixtape is consistent throughout and carries on from the previous volume. This mixtape is basically a collection of beats that were made for various other artists. But in addition to the beats, the tracks which contains his raps on top of it. [5] This mixtape was released after The Quiett's Quiet Storm – A Night Record. [6] The Quiett brings his old self into the mixtape because, as it goes by its name, it is a mixtape and contains remixes and previous releases of songs that he produced.
The Quiett's style of beats is rather a bit jazzy, and he takes the advantage of drums and bass very well in order to make his beats unique. The Quiett's beats are sometimes very strong and powerful, but most of the time they are very smooth which happens to be good for partying at night time, and his raps on top of the beat just takes his songs to a whole new level and everytime a new song or an album is released, variety is portrayed in them.
The main genres of The Quiett are:
The Quiett is one of the main producers in South Korea, alongside with Dok2, Loptimist and many more, and has produced many songs for Korean hip hop legends such as Drunken Tiger, Tasha, and even Epik High. The Quiett has produced a series of songs that are sequel to the previous tracks. This series went under the title of Every Night Series. Two tracks from the series out of 3 went in the album Sky Is The Limit, which was the seventh album by a collaborative rapper, Drunken Tiger, and they were christened Every Night 01 & Every Night 02
In 2004, The Quiett co-established an independent Korean hip hop record label and talent agency, under the title of Soul Company, alongside with Kebee and Jerry. K, who became members of the label and moved on to become the main producers alongside with the new recruits.
Soul Company had created internal project production teams to be able to make things a lot easier. This includes covering every rappers' unique styles and being able to get them to the public.
