Chocolat (singer)

Chocolat (ショコラ, shokora) (born February 15, 1978) is a Japanese singer from the greater Tokyo area in Japan. Her first single, "Chocolat a la mode", was released in 1997 on Epic Records (Japan). Her younger twin sister Heaco is also a singer. In 1998, Chocolat married the musician Akito Katayose from the band GREAT3 in Maui, Hawaii, which subsequently became her favorite place. In 2000, she moved from Epic Records to Warner Bros. Japan and later that year recorded the duet single "VERANDA" with her husband, credited as Akito Katayose featuring Chocolat. In 2005, she and her husband formed the group Chocolat & Akito.

Chocolat (manhwa)

Chocolat is a manhwa written by Shin Ji-sang and illustrated by Geo. It is published by Sigongsa and was originally distributed in the United States by Ice Kunion, and later completed by Yen Press.

Plot

All Kum-Ji wants in life is to meet her favorite boy band, DDL. When she finds that the roster for the fan club is full, Kum-Ji despairs on ever having the chance to meet them face to face. Just when she believes all hope is lost, she decides to con her way into the boy band circuit by faking an interest in another band, Yo-I, and joining their fan club. Once in, she will have access to other bands, including her beloved DDL, who often plays the same shows. However, the best laid plans so frequently go awry, and her deception is very quickly discovered by one of the band members, E-Soh. E-Soh originally decides to blackmail Kum-Ji into doing whatever he wants, but he never planned on falling in love!

Chocolat (band)

Chocolat (Hangul: 쇼콜라, Syokolla), commonly stylized as ChoColat, is a South Korean girl group created by Paramount Music in 2011. The group's name stems from the idea that each member is reminiscent of a different type of chocolate. The name of the group was initially going to be "Chocolate", but there was already a group with that name, so Paramount Music decided to use the French word chocolat instead. The group consists of mixed race members.

Career

2011: Debut and I Like It

On August 2, 2011, Chocolat was revealed to the public by Paramount Music as the first mixed race group to debut in South Korea. Prior to their debut, their music had been described as electronic club music, a mix of the disco of T-ara's "Roly-Poly" and the club sounds of 2NE1's "I Am The Best". They have also said their role models are from girl group 2NE1.

The song "I Like It" was brought to the group at the last-minute by the Paramount's president with the thought that it better represented the group's image. At this point, the band had already recorded seven songs and were rehearsing another song for their debut. At first, the song was not well-liked, but public reception made them more comfortable with it.

Chocolat (clown)

Rafael Padilla, more commonly known by his stage name Chocolat, was a clown who entertained Parisians in the early years of the 20th century. An "exotic" star of French stage during the Belle Époque, his work was forgotten until the late 20th and early 21st century when they were rediscovered.

Early life

Rafael was born in Cuba sometime between 1865 and 1868 to a slave family. At the time, slave births were not registered, so his date of birth is uncertain. In 1878, his parents escaped Cuba but left him in the care of an elderly Cuban woman in a poor neighborhood in Havana. This woman then sold him to a Spanish trader as a farmhand for his mother near Bilbao. After his arrival, Basque farmers wanted to whitewash him with a horse brush, but at the age of 14 he fled and began working odd jobs in Bilbao, including as a street singer and porter.

Debut

The famous Auguste Tony Grice discovered Rafael working the docks of Bilbao, impressed by both his physical strength and his dancing. He hired him as his manservant and handyman and then made him his partner in some of his numbers, in which Rafael would act as a stuntman.

Chocolat (2000 film)

Chocolat (French pronunciation: ​[ʃɔkɔla]) is a 2000 British-American romantic comedy-drama film based on the novel of the same name by Joanne Harris, and was directed by Lasse Hallström. Adapted by screenwriter Robert Nelson Jacobs, Chocolat tells the story of a young mother, played by Juliette Binoche, who arrives at the fictional, repressed French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes with her six-year-old daughter and opens La Chocolaterie Maya, a small chocolaterie. Her chocolate quickly begins to change the lives of the townspeople.

Filming took place between May and August 2000. The film was shot in the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain in Burgundy, France, and on the Rue De L'ancienne Poste in Beynac-et-Cazenac on the Dordogne River in Dordogne, France. The river scenes were filmed at Fonthill Lake at Fonthill Bishop in Wiltshire, England and interior scenes at Shepperton Studios, Surrey, England.

The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It was also nominated for eight BAFTAs, and four Golden Globes. Judi Dench won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the film.
