Magé

Magé is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro.

Magepe-Mirim was established in 1566 by Portuguese colonists. It is a very calm place, especially compared to nearby Rio.

Politics

In elections of 5 October 2008 Núbia Cozzolino was re-elected mayor with 51% of the vote but had her mandate revoked in 2009 after being impeached on various corruption charges. She was succeeded by her deputy Rozan Gomes who was also impeached resulting in a by-election on 31 July 2011, won by Nestor Vidal of the PMDB with 68.62% of the vote.

Geography

Magé borders Petrópolis to the north, Duque de Caxias to west, Guapimirim to the east and Guanabara bay to the south.

The climate is tropical throughout the municipality, except in areas near the Serra dos Órgãos with a tropical climate of altitude.

According to the mayor Nestor Vidal, the high index of growth in population is caused by the low taxes and low prices of homes in the city. The population nowadays is 271,440, up from the approx. 90,000 in the 60's. According to the 2009 census, whites were 15.2%, browns (mulatos) were 66.6% and blacks of Africans were 19.1%. Another races were representing 0.01% of the population in Magé. Class A population were 1.5%, Class B 46.2%, Class C 47.1% and Class D 6.2%, that means the index of poverty is high in the city, more than 55% are living in the poverty line in Magé.

    .44 Magnum

The .44 Remington Magnum, or simply .44 Magnum (10.9×33mmR), and frequently .44 Mag, is a large-bore cartridge originally designed for revolvers. After its introduction, it was quickly adopted for carbines and rifles. Despite the ".44" designation, guns chambered for the .44 Magnum round, and its parent, the .44 Special, use 0.429 in (10.9 mm) diameter bullets.

The .44 Magnum is based on a lengthened .44 Special case, loaded to higher pressures for greater velocity (and thus, energy). The .44 Magnum has since been eclipsed in power by the .454 Casull, and most recently by the .460 S&W Magnum and .500 S&W Magnum, among others; nevertheless, it has remained one of the most popular commercial large-bore magnum cartridges. When loaded to its maximum and with heavy, deeply penetrating bullets, the .44 Magnum cartridge is suitable for short-range hunting of all North American game—though at the cost of much recoil and muzzle flash when fired in handguns. In carbines and rifles, these problems do not arise.

    +972 Magazine

+972 Magazine is a left-wing news and commentary group blog that was established independently in August 2010 by a group of writers based in Israel and Palestine, though now includes North American writers.

+972 has regular writers but also publishes guest contributors. The enterprise is jointly owned by the authors and editorial team and is non-profit. The content on +972 Magazine represents a point of view that is left wing and progressive. Writer Noam Sheizaf, +972 chief executive officer, described the impetus for +972 as a "will to sound a new and mostly young voice which would take part in the international debate regarding Israel and Palestine."

The name of the magazine is derived from the 972 international dialing code that is shared by Israel and the Palestinian territories.

    History, goals, management structure

Liel Leibovitz writing in Tablet, +972 was founded in August, 2011 when four working journalists who also blog and hold progressive and anti-occupation views agreed to create a shared platform.Sarah Wildman, writing in The Nation described +972 as, "Born in the summer of 2010 as an umbrella outfit for a group of (mostly) pre-existing blogs... The site is now an online home for more than a dozen writers, a mix of Israelis, binational American- and Canadian-Israelis, and two Palestinians, all of whom occupy, if you’ll forgive the term, space on the spectrum of the left."

    MAG-7

The MAG-7 is a pump-action shotgun manufactured by Techno Arms PTY of South Africa since 1995.

    History and design

The MAG-7 was developed as a close quarters combat (CQB) weapon, which would combine the aspects of a compact submachine gun and a pump-action shotgun.

For ease of reloading, a magazine system is ideal. With the traditional pump-action mechanism located under the barrel, there is no convenient forward location for a magazine. This leaves the bullpup layout or a pistol-like arrangement of placing the magazine within the pistol grip as possible locations. It was found that the standard 12-gauge shotgun shell at 70 mm was too long to comfortably hold in the desired pistol grip mounting.

However, it was also found that at the ranges being considered for this weapon, the standard shotgun shells had too much power. This led to the development of a shorter round, 60 mm long (2.36 inch as opposed to 2.75) with both the desired power and size. The use of the MAG-7 with these cartridges yields an effective range of 45 yards (41.1 m), although they have a proven lethality to 90 yards (82 m). The MAG-7 also has a detachable, top-folding sheet metal stock.
