Fusion Energy Foundation

Fusion Energy Foundation (FEF) was an American non-profit think tank co-founded by Lyndon LaRouche in 1974 in New York. It promoted the construction of nuclear power plants, research into fusion power and beam weapons and other causes. The FEF was called fusion's greatest private supporter. It was praised by scientists like John Clarke, who said that the fusion community owed it a "debt of gratitude". By 1980, its main publication, Fusion, claimed 80,000 subscribers.

The FEF included notable scientists and others on its boards, along with LaRouche movement insiders in management positions. It published a popular magazine, Fusion, and a more technical journal as well as books and pamphlets. It conducted seminars and its members testified at legislative hearings. It was known for soliciting subscriptions to their magazines in U.S. airports, where its confrontational methods resulted in conflicts with celebrities and the general public.

The FEF has been described by many writers as a "front" for the U.S. Labor Party and the LaRouche movement. By the mid-1980s, the FEF was being accused of fraudulent fundraising on behalf of other LaRouche entities. Federal prosecutors forced it into bankruptcy in 1986 to collect contempt of court fines, a decision that was later overturned when a federal bankruptcy court found that the government had acted "in bad faith". Key personnel were convicted in 1988.

TheBlaze (magazine)

TheBlaze (titled Fusion before September 2012) is a monthly Paleolibertarian news magazine published by Mercury Radio Arts and TheBlaze in New York City, New York and circulated throughout the United States. The former title, Fusion, was taken from Beck's talk radio progarm's slogan, "The Fusion of Entertainment and Enlightenment." The editor in chief is Scott Baker.

The magazine is sixteen pages and is published monthly except for February and August. It features several recurring items, including "Stu's 3rd to Last Page," and "By the Numbers" (a listing of trivial facts related to the issue). Other articles deal with politics, pop culture, and society, and are generally written with humorous intent. Some issues have themes (Halloween, Valentine's Day, etc.) that most of the articles adhere to.

Those who attended the 2005 Glenn Beck: On Ice tour received the premiere issue (July 2005), featuring a puppet-like replication of Beck ice skating with training wheels on the cover.

Fusion (ARCTIC components)

Fusion (ARCTIC) is the branding name in which ARCTIC (formally Arctic Cooling) uses to name a certain line of products. These products include the Fusion 550- EU, Fusion 550RF, Fusion 550R, Fusion 550F and Fusion 1TB (external hard drive). As ARCTIC is more famous for its cooling products like the Freezer (CPU Cooling) series and the Accelero (VGA Cooling), they have incorporated an 80mm fan on the end of the Fusion series that was uncommon previously. ARCTIC also uses the branding name Fusion for one of their data storage devices, the Fusion 1TB. This is a one terabyte external hard drive that is 10mm thick. Its case is made from Stainless Steel to protect the hard drive from any bumps and uses USB 3.0 for a fast transfer speed.

Jazz fusion

Jazz fusion or simply fusion is a musical genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined aspects of jazz harmony and improvisation with styles such as funk, rock, rhythm and blues, and latin jazz. During this time many jazz musicians began experimenting with electric instruments and amplified sound for the first time. Electronic effects and keyboard synthesisers also featured. Many of the developments during the late 60s and early 70s have since become established elements of jazz fusion musical practice.

Fusion arrangements vary in complexity, some employ groove based vamps fixed to a single key, or even a single chord, with a simple melodic motif (a lick). Others can feature odd or shifting time signatures with elaborate chord progressions, melodies, and counter-melodies. Typically, these arrangements, whether simple or complex, will feature extended improvised sections that can vary in length. As with jazz, fusion often employs brass instruments such as trumpet and saxophone as melody and soloing instruments but other instruments often substitute for these. The rhythm section typically consists of electric bass (in some cases fretless), electric guitar, electric piano/synthesizer (in contrast to the double bass and piano used in earlier jazz) and drums. As with traditional jazz improvisation, fusion instrumentalists generally require a high level of technical proficiency.

Fusion (phonetics)

In phonetics and historical linguistics, fusion, or coalescence, is the merger of features from two or more segments into a single segment.

A common form of fusion is found in the development of nasal vowels, which frequently become phonemic when final nasal consonants are lost from a language. This occurred in French and Portuguese. Compare the French words un vin blanc [œ̃ vɛ̃ blɑ̃] "a white wine" with their English cognates, one, wine, blank, which retain the n's.

Another example is the development of Greek bous "cow" from Indo-European *gʷous. Although *gʷ was already a single consonant, [ɡʷ], it had two places of articulation, a velar stop ([ɡ]) and labial secondary articulation ([ʷ]). In Greek bous these elements have fused into a purely labial stop [b].

Often the resulting sound has the place of articulation of one of the source sounds and the manner of articulation of the other. An example comes from Malay, where the final consonant of the prefix /məN-/ (where N stands for a "placeless nasal", i.e. a nasal with no specified place of articulation) coalesces with a voiceless stop at the beginning of the root to which the prefix is attached. The resulting sound is a nasal that has the place of articulation of the root-initial consonant. For example:
