Best or The Best may refer to:
A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes and/or alternate takes of popular songs; even new material (previously unreleased). At times a greatest hits compilation is the original release for songs that have themselves been released as a single and charted successfully.
Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.
The Best is a Sony PlayStation budget range in Japan and parts of Asia. Similar budget ranges include Greatest Hits in North America, Essentials in PAL regions and BigHit Series in Korea.
For the PlayStation, The Best was followed by PSone Books when the PSone was released in 2001. These games were top selling popular titles that were made available again in a low-priced version under this new label. Games released under the PSone Books label did not come in standard jewel cases like other PlayStation games, but instead came packaged in slim jewel cases. The games' instruction booklets were typically placed outside of the case, with both booklet and cased sealed in plastic packaging. The software contained on the discs was usually the original retail game, however bug fixes were applied for a few titles. PSone Books titles were still being released until late 2006.
The first PlayStation 3 The Best titles were released on March 19, 2008. However Armored Core 4 had been prior released as early as January 10, 2008 in the Best Collection.
Best of is a 2007 album of Canadian singer Roch Voisine. It is a double album containing a collection of his best hits (in French and English) from the start of his career until 2007. It was released in 2 versions:

The Best of 1980–1990 is the first greatest hits compilation by Irish rock band U2, released in November 1998. It mostly contains the group's hit singles from the eighties but also mixes in some live staples as well as one new recording, "Sweetest Thing." In April 1999, a companion video (featuring music videos and live footage) was released. The album was followed by another compilation, The Best of 1990–2000, in 2002.
A limited edition version containing a special B-sides disc was released a week earlier than the single-disc version. At the time of release, the official word was that the 2-disc album would be available the first week the album went on sale, then pulled from the stores. While this threat never materialized, it did result in the 2-disc version being in very high demand. Both versions charted in the Billboard 200.
The boy on the cover is Peter Rowen, brother of Bono's friend Guggi (real name Derek Rowen) of the Virgin Prunes. He also appears on the covers of the early EP Three, two of the band's first three albums (Boy and War), and Early Demos.
Y&T: Best of '81 to '85 was the first Y&T compilation album to be published. It was released in 1990 by A&M Records.

The Best of 1990–2000 is the second greatest hits compilation album by Irish rock band U2. The album was released on 5 November 2002 through Island Records, except in the United States where the album was released on the Interscope label as a single-disc CD compilation. The Best of 1990–2000 & B-Sides was released on the same day with a second disc featuring 14 of the b-side singles released from 1990 to 2000 and a bonus DVD with a trailer for the album and three other segments. A video album of the same name was later released in December 2002 (see 2002 in music).
The album contained two newly recorded tracks, "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands That Built America", the latter of which was released on soundtrack to Gangs of New York while the former was released as a single. The album also included several "new mixes" of several songs, and the songs "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", which was released as a single in 1995 but had not previously been included on a U2 album, and "Miss Sarajevo", which was originally credited to Passengers and also released as a single in 1995.
