  • The Only One (The Cure song)

"The Only One" is a single by the British band The Cure which was released on 13 May 2008 on Geffen Records in the United Kingdom. The single was released in the United States on 20 May 2008. It is the first single to be released by The Cure in over three and a half years — their last single being 2004's "Taking Off" / "alt.end". It is also the first single from the 2008 album, 4:13 Dream. The single was produced by Robert Smith and Keith Uddin. The song debuted live on October 7, 2007 in Mountain View, California at a festival and was also played in Mexico City the next week. During that time, the song was known as "Please Project". It wasn't until early on in the European tour in early 2008 was "The Only One" established as the title.

The B-side, "NY Trip", does not appear on the new album.

    Reception

In an early review on their website, Canadian music magazine Exclaim!, describes the song as if it could have come from the sessions for the uplifting 1992 Wish album. They went on to add that Smith sounds "happier than ever" and that the song is a return to the form that produced many of their Top 40 hits. The Observer described the song as having all the ingredients of a classic Cure song by having "lovely spiralling guitars, glowing bass and Robert Smith at his giddiest". Saying that the song sounds "like a pop single by The Cure", Pitchfork Media adds that the lyrics are not distinctive and goes on to say that the release will not make anyone forget the previous great singles from the band.

    Ciara (album)

Ciara is the eponymously titled fifth studio album by American recording artist Ciara, which was released on July 9, 2013, by Sony Music Entertainment. This album is the artist's first release under Epic, since publicly asking the now-defunct Jive Records to release her from her contractual obligations. The singer cited a lack of label support and financial funding for her previous albums Fantasy Ride (2009) and Basic Instinct (2010). On this fifth studio album, Ciara is reunited with her long-term mentor and friend L.A. Reid, chairman of Epic Records. Reid is credited with discovering Ciara in 2003 along with signing her to his LaFace Records label and executive-producing her debut studio album, Goodies (2004).

On Ciara, the singer is reunited with music producers Rodney Jerkins and Jasper Cameron, who have respectively worked on previous Ciara singles and albums. The duo were joined by The Underdogs, Soundz, D'Mile, Oligee, Josh Abraham and Mike Will Made It, amongst others. Writing contributions come from the likes of singer-songwriters: Wynter Gordon, Livvi Franc and Ali Tamposi, along with a number of contributions from Ciara herself. Rappers Future and Nicki Minaj respectively have guest vocals on the album, whilst Ciara herself is listed as a featured artist on the song "Super Turnt Up", a record where she raps and takes credit for co-producing the song.

    Only One (Shinhwa album)

Only One sold 423,873 copies and reached number one on the Recording Industry Association Korea music chart.

    Music videos

In the music video, "Only One", the members can be seen dancing in a warehouse or in a dark place. They also wore various clothings, from a black suit to wearing grey pants only. In the music video, "All Your Dreams", in which Jun Jin stars as the main lead, the members of Shinhwa play various role. It also featured another SM Entertainment group, Black Beat as well as Kim Bomi. The music video tells the story of a man (Jun Jin) and a woman (Kim Bomi) who is giving off the image of being attracted to each other romantically. However, another man (play by a member from Black Beat) also show the same love interest in the woman as well, thus initiating a fight between Shinhwa and Black Beat towards the end of the music video. "First Love", unlike the other two, did not show Shinhwa dancing in a choreographed dance nor portray a story. It features instead various clips of Shinhwa, from practicing their dancing to having their concerts. "Wedding March", again starring Jun Jin as the main role, shows a man proposing to his love interest.
