Kobo (woreda)

Kobo is one of the woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Located in the northeast corner of the Semien Wollo Zone, Kobo is bordered on the south by the Logiya River which separates it from Habru and Guba Lafto, on the west by Gidan, on the north by Tigray Region, and on the east by the Afar Region. Towns in Kobo include Gobiye, Kobo and Robit (Kobo Robit).

Overview

The landscape of this woreda is characterized by a broad fertile plain which is separated from the lowlands of the Afar Region by the Zobil mountains, which are over 2000 meters high. In general, the altitude of Kobo ranges from 1100 meters on the plains to slightly more than 3000 meters above sea level along the border with Gidan. Kobo, as well as the other seven rural woredas of this Zone, has been grouped amongst the 48 woredas identified as the most drought prone and food insecure in the Amhara Region. To combat increasing droughts and improve crop yields, two irrigation projects have been undertaken in this woreda by the Commission for Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Rehabilitation in the Amhara Region and the NGO Lutheran World Federation, affecting 302 hectares and benefiting 1,017 households.

Plot

Under the supervision of new Supervisor Gil Grissom, and his second-in-command Catherine Willows, the team investigate the suicide of a casino jackpot winner ("Cool Change"), the abduction and burial of a young woman ("Crate 'n Burial"), the discovery of a severed leg ("Pledging Mr. Johnson"), the murder of a Catholic school dean ("Friends & Lovers"), the discovery of a skeleton under the house ("Who are You?"), a murder on an airliner ("Unfriendly Skies"), the stabbing deaths of an entire family ("Blood Drops"), and a series of staged suicides ("Anonymous"). Meanwhile, Brown struggles with a gambling addiction, Sidle adjusts to life in Las Vegas, and Brass reacquaints himself with the Homicide squad.

KOBO 1450 AM is simulcast with KIID 1470 AM.

The station is being sold by Tom Huth (Huth Broadcasting) to Punjabi American Media LLC which has an agreement with the seller to provide programs under the banner of Punjabi Radio USA. Sale-related documents filed in May 2015 with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), show a "time brokerage agreement" enables Punjabi American to program the station, while waiting for the FCC to approve transferring the license for KOBO from Huth to the buyers. The Punjabi American community in Sutter County is one of the largest outside the state of Punjab, India. It is most concentrated in South Yuba City where 20.2% of residents are South Asian, predominantly Punjabi, followed by Live Oak (7.8%), Tierra Buena (7.8%), and Yuba City (6.4%).
