Zing (quartet)

Zing! is an American barbershop quartet, which won the Sweet Adelines International Quartet Championship for 2010 in October 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee. Sweet Adelines, "one of the world's largest singing organizations for women", has members over five continents who belong to more than 1200 quartets. The State Library of Kansas, representing the quartet's home state, lists Zing! among its "Musicians of Note". Zing! announced its retirement in November 2012.

Zing (TV channel)

Zing formerly known as Zee Muzic and Music Asia, is an India-based satellite music television channel owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises, which carries broadcasts in Hindi and other regional languages of India. As well as broadcasting in South Asia, it also reaches audiences in Europe. It is promoted by the Essel Group. Zing was first launched in 1997 as Music Asia, relaunched as Zee Muzic in 2000, revamped in 2005 and finally repackaged as Zing in April 2009.

Zing features humour, animation, spoofs and celebrity lifestyle in addition to music. Zing also has Chillax Mornings – a non stop musical extravaganza for music lovers.

Zing currently has a reach of 10.6% (source: TAM) across SEC A,B,C in India. Zing has been one of the top 5 channels in a genre which has more than 21 channels.

Zing targets the urban young Indian. Simultaneously, the channel's wide range of content will make it one of the most compelling mass channels in a niche segment. The channel's content seeks to achieve the right balance to address the needs of today’s urban young Indians. Constant innovation and ideation is the underlying theme when it comes to Zing programming.

Irony punctuation

Irony punctuation is any proposed form of notation used to denote irony or sarcasm in text. Written English lacks a standard way to mark irony, and several forms of punctuation have been proposed. Among the oldest and most frequently attested are the percontation point proposed by English printer Henry Denham in the 1580s, and the irony mark, used by Marcellin Jobard and French poet Alcanter de Brahm during the 19th century. Both marks take the form of a reversed question mark, "⸮".

Irony punctuation is primarily used to indicate that a sentence should be understood at a second level. A bracketed exclamation point or question mark as well as scare quotes are also sometimes used to express irony or sarcasm.

Percontation point

The percontation point (⸮), a reversed question mark later referred to as a rhetorical question mark, was proposed by Henry Denham in the 1580s and was used at the end of a question that does not require an answer—a rhetorical question. Its use died out in the 17th century. This character can be represented using the reversed question mark (⸮) found in Unicode as U+2E2E; another character approximating it is the Arabic question mark (؟), U+061F.

Quartet (Tony Rice and Peter Rowan album)

Quartet is a second collaboration album of guitarists Peter Rowan and Tony Rice. On this record, the duo becomes a quartet with the addition of mandolinist Sharon Gilchrist and bassist Bryn Davies, both of whom sing as well. The band continues to deliver intimate, bluegrass-folk style music on a very high level.

Quartets (card game)

Quartets is a commercial card game similar to Go Fish. The game was invented in the Netherlands where it is known as kwartet. The game was originally created by Austrian card game company Piatnik during the 1960s, but later began being released by Dubreq, Ace, Waddingtons and other companies. Quartets, like Ace Trumps, were usually non-licensed.

Each pack originally contained 32 cards, divided into 8 groups of 4 cards, unlike a normal 52 pack of playing cards, but the number of groups changed from company to company.

The game went on to inspired Top Trumps.

Gameplay

Quartets is played with three or more players, with the aim to win all the quarts (sets of four). Each card usually has a number and letter (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 2A, 2B etc. ) in the top right or left corner of the card.

The cards are shuffled and dealt evenly between all the players and the cards get held face up in a players hand. The player to the dealer's left starts by asking another player if they had a certain card (example, card 4C) which would help the player create a quart. If the player does have the card, then they hand it over. If the player doesn't, then it becomes his turn to ask.

Quartet (sculpture)

Quartet is a public art work by artist Celine Farrell located on the south side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The painted steel sculpture consists of four panels radiating out from a center point. Each panel is painted a different color and has shapes cut out to represent the four seasons. It is located at South 13th Street and West Lincoln Avenue west of Kosciuszko Park in the Lincoln Village neighborhood. A derivative sculpture was created by recycling the cut away elements; this work is installed nearby at Ben's Cycle and Fitness, maker of Milwaukee Bicycles.
