Numeral (linguistics)

In linguistics, a numeral is a member of a word class (or sometimes even a part of speech) designating numbers, such as the English word 'two' and the compound 'seventy-seven'.

Identifying numerals

Numerals may be attributive, as in two dogs, or pronominal, as in I saw two (of them).

Many words of different parts of speech indicate number or quantity. Quantifiers do not enumerate, or designate a specific number, but give another, often less specific, indication of amount. Examples are words such as every, most, least, some, etc. There are also number words which enumerate but are not a distinct part of speech, such as 'dozen', which is a noun, 'first', which is an adjective, or 'twice', which is an adverb. Numerals enumerate, but in addition have distinct grammatical behavior: when a numeral modifies a noun, it may replace the article: the/some dogs played in the park → twelve dogs played in the park. (Note that *dozen dogs played in the park is not grammatical, so 'dozen' is not a numeral.)

Gonzalo Barrios (esports player)

Gonzalo Barrios (born April 17, 1995), known by his gamertag ZeRo, is a Chilean professional Super Smash Bros. player. He is considered the best Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player in the world and a top ranked Super Smash Bros. Brawl player. He mains Diddy Kong and Sheik in Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo Wii U, and mained Pit in Project M, Meta Knight in Brawl, and Fox in Melee.

Career

Barrios has had "ZeRo" as his gamertag since 2005. He has been playing Smash since Super Smash Bros. in 1999. He started to travel and play in Melee tournaments in a local Akiba Game Store in early 2007. ZeRo quit Smash completely until December of 2010 and then focused only on Brawl.

ZeRo placed second in Brawl at Apex 2014, losing to Nairo and was the champion of the Smash Wii U at Apex 2015. He defeated Dabuz, who was playing Captain Olimar, in the finals. ZeRo qualified for the MLG Anaheim 2014 championship bracket and finished 17th. ZeRo was ranked in 2014 by Melee it on Me as the 35th best Melee player in the world.

Signal (novel)

Signal is a 2009 children's science fiction novel by Cynthia DeFelice. The book was a Junior Library Guild selection for 2009. The novel is about a boy who is bored with his new life in upstate New York and discovers a girl who claims to be from another planet, who has been kidnapped by an abusive couple, and attempts to make a signal to contact her home planet.

Signal (magazine)

Signal was a magazine published by the German Wehrmacht from 1940 through 1945.

Signal was a modern, glossy, illustrated photo journal and army propaganda tool, meant specifically for audiences in neutral, allied, and occupied countries. A German edition was distributed in Switzerland and to various other countries with a strong German military presence, but Signal was never distributed in Germany proper. The promoter of the magazine was the chief of the Wehrmacht propaganda office, Colonel Hasso von Wedel. Signal was published fortnightly (plus some special issues) in as many as 25 editions and 30 languages, and at its height had a circulation of 2,500,000 copies. It was available in the United States in English until December 1941. The last number was 6/45, only known in one sample from the Swedish edition.

Signal described the combat conditions of the German troops and their allies in all fronts, together with high quality photos, including a central double page full color one. Many of the most famous photos of World War II to be seen today are taken from Signal. The magazine also included articles about economics, science, arts, and advertising for the most well-known German companies (e.g., BMW, Agfa, Audi, Siemens, etc.). The contents of the different editions could vary, sometimes avoiding subjects that could upset or worry the population of that country (for example, the discovery of the Katyn massacre of Polish officers taken prisoners by the Soviets in 1940 was not covered by all editions).

Signal (Hangul: 시그널; RR: Sigeuneol) is a 2016 South Korean television series starring Lee Je-hoon, Kim Hye-soo and Cho Jin-woong. It airs on tvN on Fridays to Saturdays at 08:30 KST for 16 episodes beginning January 22, 2016.

Synopsis

A mysterious walkie talkie allows a rookie detective in the 1980s to communicate with a jaded cold case profiler in 2016; with the power of fore and hindsight the two not only solve crimes but prevent them from ever taking place. However a long standing murder case is closer to home than either realises.
