Zehri

Distribution

The tribe is spread throughout Sindh and Balochistan and speak Balochi and Brahui as native languages. The Zehri tribe is a Baloch tribe mainly living in the Jhalawan region of the province of Balochistan of Pakistan. The Zehri tribe has a very long history, the chief of the Zehri tribe is considered the chief of all the tribes living in the Jahalwan region. The Sardar of Zehri tribe is Sardar Mir Sanaullah Zehri son of Nawab Mir Doda Khan Zehri. The Zehris had played a vital role in the history of the Baloch State of Kalat. One notable leader was Mir Nawab Nowroz Khan, who led an unsuccessful revolt against the Pakistani government in 1959-1960. At the present Nawabzada Mir Doda khan has a great impact in Balochistan especially in Jhalawan area. He has great power and influence on the people of Jhalawan by his honesty and generosity he has been given the title of Shahzada e Jhalwaan. Its chief is the hereditary sardar of Jhalawan, and resides at Ghatt ... The tribe is numerous, and generally respected for orderley habits."
