Zeev Aram

Zeev Aram OBE (born 5 October 1931) is a British furniture and interior designer. He is the founder and Chairman of Aram Designs Ltd, a modern furniture store in London's Covent Garden serving both the retail and contract market. He is responsible for introducing to the London market designers such as Marcel Breuer, the Castiglioni brothers, Mies van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier.

Life and career

Aram was born in Cluj, Romania. In 1940 with the outbreak of World War II, the family emigrated to Mandatory Palestine, where Aram grew up. He initially had a career as an officer in the Israeli Navy but later decided to become an architect. However, the Haifa Polytechnic architecture course had a two-year waiting list, and in 1957 he went to London instead. After completing his course in furniture and interior design the Central School of Art and Design (now Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design), he joined the architectural office of Ernő Goldfinger. He worked in Goldfinger's practice for a year and then went on to work for Basil Spence and later for Andrew Renton.

Aram (2002 film)

Aram is a 2002 French action film. It takes place in France between 1993 and 2001, wherein French-Armenian fighters supply arms to Nagorno-Karabakh and kill a visiting Turkish general. The film was released in 2002 in theatres in France, and made its American debut in 2004 at the Armenian Film Festival in San Francisco.

Plot

Background

Historically, the film is loosely based on the militant activity of small groups of Armenian youth in mostly Western Europe beginning in 1973 and lasting until 1994 during which Armenian assassins killed representatives of the state of Turkey in order to gain public awareness of the forgotten (at the time) Armenian Genocide.

Armenian War of Liberation: Karabakh – late 1980s to 1993

The film opens with scenes from the Armenian positions during the Karabakh war, sometime between 1988 and 1993. Armenian women, children, and the elderly are shown hiding in bomb shelters and being airlifted to safety.

Aram Sarkissian is a young French-Armenian member of AGJSA who has abruptly left his family in Paris and gone to fight in the war of liberation.

He becomes a producer for his fourth project Aram which he directed and scripted. Moreover as a journalist he entered into the Limca Book of Records by his innovative ideas in media. Reji commented that cinema is the best suitable medium to express his new ideas and thoughts and becomes a producer for his fourth project Aram in his own banner ‘Focus Films’.
