ZZT (duo)

ZZT is the project of Munich based musician and producer Zombie Nation (Florian Senfter) and Canadian based musician and DJ Tiga James Sontag. In 2007, they released their first EP, Lower State of Consciousness on UKW and Turbo Recordings.

There isn't much information about it,the only thing that has been revealed so far is that it will be called "Partys Over Earth" and that it is already finished. A release date has been put forward by the duo through social media outlets to be the 7th of November 2011. The album is already available on cassette limited to 100 copies via the Turbo Online Shop.

ZZT

ZZT is an ANSI character-based video game, created in 1991 by Tim Sweeney of Potomac Computer Systems which became Epic MegaGames in 1992. It remains a popular MS-DOS game creation system. ZZT itself is not an acronym for anything; its title was chosen so it would always appear at the bottom of newsgroup listings. It was later jokingly mentioned by Sweeney as being short for Zoo of Zero Tolerance, which has mistakenly become a popular belief.

Although visually outdated at the time of its release, ZZT became fairly popular because of its integration of an object-oriented scripting language known as ZZT-OOP. The language allowed community involvement that extended beyond simply creating level terrain with the built-in editor.

Originally ZZT was shareware, with only one of the four level-sets or "worlds" released without payment. The level released with the shareware copy is called "Town of ZZT". The shareware versions also included "Demo of ZZT", which displayed the basic features of ZZT worlds, and "Tour of ZZT", which allowed the player to view select rooms (some playable) of the four worlds. Three different versions of shareware ZZT were released, with three corresponding registered versions. With about 30,000 registrations worldwide, ZZT was successful enough to finance the production of Jill of the Jungle. As the game became obsolete it became freeware, however, with all four worlds of the registered version released for free. The worlds are: "Town of ZZT", "Caves of ZZT", "Dungeons of ZZT", and "City of ZZT".

Duo (novel)

Duo is a 1934 novel by the French writer Colette. The story focuses on a married couple on vacation in southern France, who deal with the fact that the wife has been unfaithful. Roberto Rossellini's 1954 film Journey to Italy is loosely based on the novel, but uncredited due to rights issues.

Reception

Margaret Wallace of The New York Times wrote: "Duo is a small work and very fine. In comparison with Colette's previous novels it gives one- and this is odd, for nothing she has written has ever seemed shallow or immature- an impression of increased depth and maturity. It is altogether a cleaner and harder piece of writing than one has expected from Colette in the past. It is less mannered, ruthlessly stripped of anything decorative or ornamental, even of wit purely for wit's sake."

Duo (also referred to as Marilyn Crispell and Gerry Hemingway Duo) is an album by American jazz pianist Marilyn Crispell with drummer Gerry Hemingway, which was recorded in 1989 and released on the Knitting Factory label.

Reception

In his review for AllMusic, Michael G. Nastos states "Crispell truly has transcended the Cecil Taylor approach to make music that is all her own, while Hemingway is marvelous in his ability to shade, contrast, punctuate, and complement everything she does. A match made on earth, speaking to the heavens, and some of the ultimate improvised music made for this genre in the '90s."
