Argonaute

The Argonaute protein family plays a central role in RNA silencing processes, as essential catalytic components of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). RISC complex is responsible for the gene silencing phenomenon known as RNA interference (RNAi). Argonaute proteins bind different classes of small non-coding RNAs, including microRNAs (miRNAs), small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs). Small RNAs guide Argonaute proteins to their specific targets through sequence complementarity (base pairing), which then leads to mRNA cleavage or translation inhibition.

Discovery

The RNA interference (RNAi) was first reported in 1995 by Guo and Kemphues, and similar pathways collectively referred to as RNA silencing were discovered in plants and fungi. The beginning of people’s understanding of the mechanism of RNA silencing began only in 1998 with the experiments of Fire and colleagues demonstrating that double-stranded RNA triggered RNAi. RNA silencing pathways process long RNAs into small RNAs that direct the repression of transcription or translation of nucleic acid targets with sequence corresponding to the small RNAs. These single-stranded RNAs, referred to as guide strands, are incorporated into RNA silencing effectors complexes such as the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). These RNA silencing effector complexes contain Argonaute family proteins.

"Yours" is the debut studio album from Australian singer-song writer, Nathaniel Willemse. It was released in Australia on 23 October 2015 and debuted at number 5 on the ARIA Charts.

Themes

Producer David Musumeci of DNA Songs explains, "From the moment we signed Nathaniel we knew we wanted to make a record with great emotional depth that would take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as you run through it, and we think we've achieved that with Yours. Nathaniel is a true talent and we hope the people enjoy listening to this album as much as we loved making it."

Willemse said of the album’s theme “The album covers the themes of love, relationships and break-ups, but it also covers being yourself, and being inspired and confident enough to make the right choices in life… For me, all these songs have their own particular story and sound.”

Marcus Floyd of Renowned For Sound gave the album 4.5 out of 5 saying, “’’Yours’’ is jam packed with influences from various genres like synth-pop, funk and soul: a decent mix for a popular artist of today that’s for sure.” Adding “Nathaniel’s vocal game is one of the strongest to grace radio, his knack for writing and delivering pop music is astounding, and his overall sound is addictive. Yours is one of the most decent debut albums brought out by a modern pop star that you’ll find.” Cameron Adams from The Herald Sun gave the album 3.5 out of 5 and said the album was "solid". He added this is "how to do commercial soul with style".

Yours (Quiéreme Mucho)

"Quiéreme mucho" is a criolla-bolero composed between 1915 and 1917 by Gonzalo Roig with lyrics by Augustin Rodriguez. It was first recorded in 1922 by singer Tito Schipa. In 1931, the English version, "Yours", was published in the United States. It featured lyrics in English written by Albert Gamse and Jack Sherr. Both versions have been extensively recorded and arranged by different musicians, becoming Latin music standard.

Hit versions of "Yours" have been recorded by the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Vera Lynn, and Dick Contino. In other languages, Cliff Richard and Julio Iglesias have also had hits.
