You Lie may refer to:

Joe Wilson (U.S. politician)

Addison Graves "Joe" Wilson, Sr. (born July 31, 1947) is U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 2nd congressional district, serving since 2001. The district stretches from the state capital, Columbia, to the Georgia-South Carolina border. He is a member of the Republican Party. He previously served in the South Carolina Senate from 1985 to 2001.

He is a member of the House Republican Policy Committee and is an Assistant Republican Whip.

In September 2009, Wilson received international attention when he interrupted a speech by U.S. President Barack Obama to the joint session of Congress by shouting "You lie!" The incident resulted in a formal rebuke by the House of Representatives largely along party lines.

Wilson was re-elected in 2010 by a comfortable 9 percentage points over his nearest challenger and when he ran unopposed in the 2012 general election he was re-elected with 96% of the vote.

Early life, education and career

Wilson was born in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Wray (née Graves) and Hugh deVeaux Wilson. Wilson obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from Washington and Lee University in 1969 where he joined Sigma Nu, and obtained his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1972. From 1972 to 1975, Wilson served in the United States Army Reserve, and then as a Staff Judge Advocate in the South Carolina Army National Guard assigned to the 218th Mechanized Infantry Brigade until retiring from military service as a colonel in 2003.

It was released in January 2011 as the third single from the band's self-titled debut album, and their second consecutive release to reach top ten on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Content

The song's female narrator is angered by her significant other's infidelity and constant lying, using similes to describe his lies. In the song's bridge, she throws his wedding ring in a river. The song was written by Aaron, Brian, and Clara Henningsen.

Critical reception

Blake Boldt, in his review of the album on Engine 145, praised Kimberly's vocals on the track, saying that she "really shines when she's been wronged by her man." Bobby Peacock of Roughstock gave the single four-and-a-half stars out of five, saying that her vocal was "bold and expressive." He also stated that the song was "a little more mature" than the band's first two singles.
