"You Can Do It" is a single by American rapper Ice Cube. It was released from the Next Friday soundtrack. The song features Ice Cube's Westside Connection bandmate Mack 10, as well as female rapper Ms. Toi. "You Can Do It" later appeared on Cube's sixth studio album, War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc) as well as on his Greatest Hits and In the Movies compilations. It would also appear on the double platinum Save the Last dance. The song became Ice Cube's sixth and final top 40 hit in the US, peaking at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, while also reaching number two on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles. In December 2004, the single was re-released in the UK and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart. It has sold 165,000 copies in the UK as of 2015.

Robert Michael "Rob" Schneider (born October 31, 1963) is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and director. A stand-up comic and veteran of the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, he went on to a successful career in feature films, including starring roles in the comedy films Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Hot Chick, The Benchwarmers, and Grown Ups.

Early life

Schneider was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Pacifica. He is the son of Pilar (née Monroe), a former kindergarten teacher and ex-school board president, and Marvin Schneider, a real estate broker. His father was Jewish and his mother was Catholic. Schneider's maternal grandmother was a Filipina who met and married his grandfather, a white American army private, while he was stationed in the Philippines. His older brother, John, is a producer. Schneider graduated from Terra Nova High School in 1982.

Career

Early career

Schneider started his stand-up comedy career while still in high school, opening for San Francisco favorites Head On, a band managed by his older brother John. After high school, he played Bay Area nightclubs such as the Holy City Zoo and The Other Cafe, and was a regular guest on local radio programs. After opening a show by comedian Dennis Miller in 1987, Schneider won a slot on HBO's 13th Annual Young Comedians special, which was hosted by Miller. Schneider's appearance on the HBO special led to a position as a writer for the late night NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live.

War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc)

War & Peace Volume 2 (The Peace Disc) is the sixth studio album by American rapper Ice Cube, released March 21, 2000 on Priority Records. It is the second part from the two-album project War & Peace; the previous volume, War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disc) was released in 1998. War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc) peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and at number 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling 188,000 copies in its first week of release.

The album starts off with "Hello" which features former N.W.A bandmates Dr. Dre and MC Ren. The club song "You Can Do It" which then later, re-released in 2004 was a UK #2 for Cube.

Even with the success of Ice Cube's film Next Friday, the album's promotion was poor and other new artists such as Eminem, Xzibit and Dr. Dre's 2001 were on top of the charts. This was Ice Cube's final album under Priority Records. It took six years for Ice Cube to release his next album, Laugh Now, Cry Later.

Reception

The album debuted on #3 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 188,000 copies, it has since been certified Gold selling over 500,000 copies
