Hanging noose used at public executions outside Lancaster Castle, circa 1820-1830

A noose is a loop at the end of a rope in which the knot slides to make the loop collapsible. Knots used for making nooses include the running bowline, the tarbuck knot, and the slip knot.

Use in hanging [link]

The knot most closely associated with execution is the hangman's knot, which is also known as the "hangman's noose".

The anatomy of a noose is such as this:

  1. the open end is called a honda
  2. the knots are known as hangmans knots (depending on styles)
  3. the end that is plain is the hitch

In the US, a noose is sometimes left as a message in order to intimidate people. Its meaning is derived from its use in segregation era lynchings.[1][2][3][4] It is illegal to display a noose in a threatening manner in some states such as New York and Connecticut.[5]

    Xscape (album)

Xscape is the second posthumous (and twelfth overall) album and eighth under Epic Records of previously unreleased tracks by American singer Michael Jackson. It was released on May 13, 2014 by Epic Records and MJJ Music. It is the eleventh album released by Sony and Motown since Jackson's death in June 2009. L.A. Reid, chairman of Epic Records, curated and served as executive producer for the album enlisting Timbaland to lead a team of record producers, including StarGate, Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon, John McClain, and Rodney Jerkins, to remix and contemporize the eight selected tracks. Jerkins produced the title song and is the only original song producer to work on the final productions.

Xscape was promoted across the Sony group of companies; Sony Mobile used a snippet of "Slave to the Rhythm" in their advertising campaign for the Xperia Z2 mobile phone. "Love Never Felt So Good" was announced as the official lead single to premiere on May 1, 2014. The deluxe edition of the album includes all of the songs in their original forms as well as one bonus track and two videos.
