A xerophyte (from Greek xero dry, phuton plant) is a species of plant that has adapted to survive in an environment with little liquid water, such as a desert or an ice- or snow-covered region in the Alps or the Arctic.
The morphology and physiology of xerophytes are variously adapted to conserve water, and commonly also to store large quantities of water, during dry periods. Other species may be adapted to survive long periods of desiccation of their tissues, during which their metabolic activity may effectively shut down. Plants with such morphological and physiological adaptations are xeromorphic.
Plants absorb water from the soil, which then evaporates from their outer surfaces; this process is known as transpiration. In dry environments, a typical (mesophytic) plant would evaporate water faster than the rate at which water was replaced in the soil, leading to wilting. To reduce this effect, xerophytic plants exhibit a variety of specialized adaptations to survive in such conditions. Xerophytes may use water from their own storage, allocate water specifically to sites of new tissue growth, or lose less water to the atmosphere and so convert a greater proportion of water in the soil to growth, or have other adaptations to manage water supply and enable them to survive.
There's a blister on my sister from too many Grande Jete
And there's nothing I can do to make it go away
With bandages applied, she looks so undignified
It's a sad athlete who's got sore feet
Chorus:
Welcome to the club
Don't think this is easy street
We know how it feels
But when the lights go down, the curtain comes up
(3rd chorus add: The music swells and you feel the beat)
And the setting is complete.
It's bittersweet, when we've got sore feet
It's a crying change seize, it's how personality
Can change dramatically.
When they've got sore feet
It's the dance with pain, but they do it all they get
It's a love hate thing, when you're got (we've got)
Sore Feet
Chorus
Look at these worn and tired shoes
They've been good to you
They have a selfcount let us pay our dues
They knew just what to do
They had to fit just right
Not too loose and not too tight
They gave it all
It came through for you
Strap your ankles 'til your toes turn blue
