Ero

Ero is a genus of pirate spiders in the family Mimetidae.

Description

Members of this genus resemble the comb-footed spiders, Theridiidae, due to their globular abdomen which is higher than it is long. The upper side of this bears one or two pairs of conical tubercles and some curved bristle-like hairs. The anterior medial eyes project on small tubercles. Leg 1 is nearly twice as long as leg 4. The egg sacks are very characteristic being elongated globes about four millimetres in diameter, suspended on a silken thread from vegetation. They are made from an inner layer of yellowish brown silk and an outer layer of dark coloured, loosely woven silk which gives the sack a woolly appearance. The sacks are not guarded by the female and when the juveniles hatch, so they have to fend for themselves. Since Ero species are nocturnal, the adults are not often seen and the egg sacks often reveal their presence before specimens are found.

Feeding behaviour

Spiders in this genus are specialised spider killers. An individual will attack a potential victim by biting one of its legs and injecting toxins. It then retreats and the prey spider quickly becomes paralysed. The attacker then advances and starts to feed, sucking out the body fluids of its victim.

Şero

Şerafettin (Born: 2005; often shortened to Şero) is a cat living in Ankara, Turkey, who resides in the headquarters of the Republican People's Party (CHP). He is famous for having a Twitter account followed by more than 32 thousand people, though the real operator behind the account remains unknown. Şero is the mascot of the CHP and is described as the 'standard social democratic cat'. He is as a significant icon in Turkish politics, constantly appearing on the news for outlandish and humorous political comments made on his Twitter account.

Şero describes himself as the 'CHP's second-hand man', second only to party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. His Twitter account identifies his job as 'eyeing Kılıçdaroğlu'.

History

Şero has lived at the CHP headquarters since it was built, and is assumed to have been born in 2005. His name, Şerafettin, comes from the Turkish comic book character Kötü Kedi Şerafettin (Bad Cat Şerafettin), which has similarities with the comic strip character Garfield. His name was given to him by construction workers during the building's construction and is shortened to Şero. In 2009, the CHP's expenditure on cat food and cat litter was declared illegal by the Constitutional Court of Turkey, which identified the expenditure on the cat as a misuse of party funds.

Hypertopology

In the mathematical branch of topology, a hyperspace (or a space equipped with a hypertopology) is a topological space, which consists of the set CL(X) of all closed subsets of another topological space X, equipped with a topology so that the canonical map

Homeworld

Homeworld is a real-time strategy computer game released on September 28, 1999, developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment. It was the first fully three-dimensional real-time strategy (RTS) game.Homeworld was the beginning of a series, followed by Homeworld: Cataclysm (2000) and Homeworld 2 (2003). In 2014 Homeworld: Remastered (Homeworld HD and Homeworld 2 HD remakes) were announced by the new intellectual property (IP) holder, Gearbox Software. The remakes were released on February 25, 2015. A prequel, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, was released by Blackbird Interactive in January 2016.

Development history

Homeworld was developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment in 1999. Author Arinn Dembo wrote under the pseudonym “Marcus Skyler” some of the game's background descriptions. Writer David J. Williams is credited with story concept. Sierra/Vivendi maintained ownership of the Homeworld IP.

Sound engine

There were five hours of audio developed and included for the final Homeworld version. Due to the limited computing power at the time (e.g. Pentium MMX CPUs) and the limited delivery medium (650 MB CD-ROM) the developers had to write their own data compression routines. While the resulting product did not carry the Dolby Surround logo it would use the rear speaker if the PC was connected to a Dolby-2 surround sound processor.
