Analog shutdown [link]

By Mexican law, XHILA needs to turn off its analog signal on November 26, 2013, but XHILA decided to turn off the signal by March 7, 2013, for unknown reasons. COFETEL approved the XHILA's analog shutdown.[2][3]

On March 6, 2013 at 11:30 p.m., XHILA-TDT turned off its analog signal, making it the nation's first television station to switch to digital.{{#invoke:Namespace detect|main}}{{#invoke:Namespace detect|main}}[citation needed]

'XHILA-TDT began with experimental broadcasts in 1997, then began broadcasting commercially in October 1998.[4] It has been owned since inception by Intermedia de Mexicali, airing independent programming during the day, and news from CNI at night. The station no longer airs CNI programming.

In 2008, XHILA became affiliated with Mexico's newest broadcast network, cadenatres. At the time, Yuma low-power television station K28FM was a repeater of XHILA, which, in effect, gave cadenatres its first American affiliate. K28FM is now silent.

History of K28FM [link]

Previously, K28FM has been a stand-alone station, affiliated with Mas Musica, then a repeater for XHILA, then later, an affiliate of La Familia Network (LFN), a Spanish-language family-oriented broadcast television network. From late September 2006, the station was an affiliate of MTV Tr3s, a Latino-focused music channel. In February 2007, K28FM was an affiliate of Retro Television Network; the station would later switch to Retro Jams (a music video network), before returning to XHILA.

In September 2006, K28FM was identified as a "singleton applicant" for a companion digital LPTV signal on UHF channel 17 [1]. A singleton applicant is one whose application for a construction permit has no competition from nearby applications on the same or adjacent channels. As a singleton applicant, the station is likely to be granted a construction permit.

XHILA-TV targets both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. XHILA-TDT provides local information, news shows and variety programs for viewers along with a schedule of movies, comedies and programs of interest.

Solidify

by: Sheryl Crow

Pouring in and around the great wellspring
Of simple feeling
And I need bearings in the face of your
Cool cool fire
Walking backwards with the pounding of your voice
Makes my soul tired
And concrete is
As concrete doesn't
And voices can drown
Why should I
Solidify
Make me real
So you can see me
I guess you thought
I'd hide the sun from my liquid thoughts and
Make ice for you
You thought I'd seed my clouds
With the rain of your personal dreams
I guess you thought I'd throw confetti
At your parade of lofty thoughts
I guess you thought I'd shine good morning
In some good morning Jack
Surprise
Why should I
Solidify
Make me real
