XEDTL-AM is a radio station in Mexico City. Broadcasting on 660 AM, XEDTL-AM is owned by the Instituto Mexicano de la Radio and broadcasts a citizen-sourced talk and music format under the brand name Radio Ciudadana.
XEDTL-AM began on 820 kHz as XEBZ-AM, with a concession awarded on July 9, 1936 to Sra. Refugio Esparza Vda. de Valezzi. It likely moved to 660 in 1939, when most Mexico City radio stations changed frequencies. It was sold in 1942 to Vocero Mexicano, S.A.
By 1959 the station had the callsign XERPM-AM (for its owner, Radio Programas de México) and was licensed for 50 kW day/10 kW night. It was the key station of the Cadena Radio Tricolor, also operated by RPM. The station passed into the ownership of Radio Fórmula in the 1970s, and in turn, Radio Fórmula's then-three stations (XERPM, XEMP-AM and XEB-AM) were nationalized in 1978. The callsign was changed yet again in 1983, to XERIN-AM, with power being lowered to 10 kW day/1 kW night. The station during this time was known as "Radio Rin", a children-oriented format that came to an end in 1994 with the callsign being changed to the current XEDTL-AM. The station changed formats and names several times during this period.
We grew up believing nothing good in this life’s free
All I saw was money when I turned on the TV
Mama always asked me to go outside and play with friends
But they’d be watching re-runs of Puff Daddy in his Benz
Money and fame
Our ball and chain
Stuck inside this prison
Just for watching MTV
We grew up believing that it’s good looks gets you seen
All I saw was beauty when I read my magazines
Mama always walked around with a smile in her eyes
But she would never buy herself the clothes that were in style
Beauty and fame
Now they’re our ball and chain
And we’re stuck inside this
Prison reading People Magazine
We grew up believing that no anger makes you weak
All I saw was violence when I looked at the big screen
Papa always asked me, “ain’t it great to be alive?”
But he would never get mad when his problems would arise
Power and fame
Now they’re our ball and chain
And we’re stuck inside this prison
Until we can find a way
Money and fame
Now they’re our ball and chain
And stuck inside this prison is a
Generation dazed
Beauty and fame
Now they’re your ball and chain
And you’re stuck inside this prison
