This station's original construction permit was granted by the Federal Communications Commission on March 4, 1992.[4] The new station was assigned the call letters WUAF on April 23, 1992.[1] The station's callsign was changed to WRLD-FM on February 22, 1994.[1] After several delays, WRLD-FM received its license to cover on April 5, 1996.[5]
In May 1999, Pearce Broadcasting Company, Inc., reached an agreement to sell WRLD-FM to McClure Broadcasting, Inc.[6] The FCC approved the deal on July 22, 1999, and the transaction was consummated on September 21, 1999.[6]
In December 2002, McClure Broadcasting, Inc., (Chuck McClure Jr., president) reached an agreement to sell WRLD-FM to Archway Broadcasting Group (Al Vicente, president/CEO) through their affiliate ABG Georgia Licenses, LLC.[7] This was part of a four-station deal, along with WRCG, WCGQ, and WKCN, for a reported combined sale price of $15 million.[8] The deal was approved by the FCC on February 21, 2003, and the transaction was consummated on April 25, 2003.[7] At the time of the sale, WRLD-FM carried an oldies music format.
On July 31, 2008, local investment group PMB Broadcasting LLC (headed up by Jim Martin) purchased this station along with Columbus-area sister stations WRCG, WCGQ, and WKCN from Archway Broadcasting Group LLC for a reported sale price of $7.2 million.[9]
On September 6, 2010, the station changed its call sign to the current WRLD.

There are several distinct figures in Greek mythology named Manto (Greek: Μαντώ), the most prominent being the daughter of Tiresias. The name Manto derives from Ancient Greek Mantis, "seer, prophet".
Daughter of Tiresias
Manto was the daughter of the prophet Tiresias and mother of Mopsus. Tiresias was a Theban oracle who, according to tradition, was changed into a woman after striking a pair of copulating snakes with a rod, and was thereafter a priestess of Hera.
During the War of the Epigoni, a later myth relates, Manto was brought to Delphi as a war prize. Apollo sent her to Colophon to find an oracle devoted to him. She married Rhacius and gave birth to Mopsus (although by some accounts Apollo was the father). According to the Bibliotheca, she had two children by Alcmaeon-- Amphilochus and Tisiphone. In Roman myth, Manto went to Italy and gave birth to Ocnus (father: Tiberinus, the genius of the river Tiber). Ocnus founded Mantua and named it after his mother.
It was said that Manto's abilities in prophecy were much greater than her father's.
Mando (singer)
Mando (Greek: Μαντώ), born Adamantia Stamatopoulou (Greek: Αδαμαντία Σταματοπούλου), is a popular Greek singer. She was born in Piraeus on 13 April 1966 and raised in Athens by her jazz pianist father, Nikos Stamatopoulos and a classic soprano opera mother, Mary Apergi.
From a young age she began to develop her talent and interest in music, and was characterized as a "born musician". On 14 March 2010, Alpha TV ranked Mando the 23rd top-certified female artist in the nation's phonographic era (since 1960), totalling five gold records. On 21 April 2013 she participated at the Greek version of Your Face Sounds Familiar which was aired by Antenna TV Greece, where in the last episode (30 June 2013), she placed 4th. She was a special guest star in the semifinal of The Voice of greece where she and one of the participants, Maria Elena Kiriakou, sang together Beyonce's Hit Listen And she has presented her new song Poliploka from her upcoming album.
Early life
At the age of four Mando could easily sing operatic arias, gospel and jazz music. Her parents, astonished by her musical capability, signed her with the National Conservatory for piano and music theory lessons. Meanwhile, she took up vocal training and dance lessons. At the age of ten, Mando began to teach herself how to play the guitar and various percussion instruments. Her dedication and passion quickly led her to compose her own melodies.
