WLFJ is a daytime-only Christian talk station at 660 on the AM dial broadcasting at 50,000 watts (10,000 during critical hours, and 500 watts pre sunrise authorization in January, November and December.
660 signed on the air in March 1947 as WESC. The station was for many years a country music outlet branded "660 in Dixie", sister to WESC-FM, which was beautiful music at first, then later country music. Throughout the mid-late 20th century, WESC was frequently the highest rated station in the Greenville market.
In 1994, while simulcasting WESC-FM most of the time, WESC picked up The Fabulous Sports Babe.
The station carried its country music format until early 2000, when it was purchased by Clear Channel Communications, who leased AM 660 to Radio Training Network Inc. (owners of WLFJ-FM), which placed a Christian Talk format on the station under the WLFJ callsign. The country music format continues on WESC-FM.
As of 2009, it is one of four AM radio stations operating at 50,000 watts in the state of South Carolina, the others being WBAJ, WAGL, and WCEO.
