Winter Park High School

Winter Park High School (often simply abbreviated as WPHS) located in Winter Park, Florida is one of seventeen public high schools in Orange County. Winter Park High School is a magnet school for the International Baccalaureate program and delivers Advanced Placement courses.

History

Winter Park High School was constructed at 528 Huntington Avenue in 1923, being one of the first high schools in Orange County. The school remained in this location until construction began in 1969 at the present location (420 Summerfield Rd). The original campus remains in use to this day as the Winter Park High School Ninth Grade Center, a campus exclusively used by ninth-grade students.

In 2008, Winter Park High School was listed at 160 in Newsweek's 1,200 Top U.S. Schools, with the criteria being which schools have the largest percentage of students taking Honors AP or IB exams.

In 2011, The Washington Post's annual ranking of American high schools identified WPHS as #156 in the country.

Park High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Stanmore, London, England.

The school converted to academy status in 2011, having previously been a community school under the direct control of Harrow London Borough Council. However the school continues to coordinate with Harrow London Borough Council for admissions.

Park High School offers GCSEs and OCR Nationals as programmes of study for pupils. Students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels.

Washington Park High School

Washington Park High School (also known as Park or Racine Park High School) is a public, four-year high school in Racine, Wisconsin with an enrollment of over 2,400 students. Its school colors are blue and orange. The school's mascot, the panther, was adopted by the Class of 1949, reportedly because of a nearby Native American effigy mound in the shape of a panther.

History

The school traces its roots to 1852 when Racine High School, the first public school in Wisconsin opened. In 1926, the Racine School Board decided to replace Racine High School with a new school that would eventually become Park. The new Washington Park High School opened in 1928. The north side of Racine also received their own high school the same year when land donated by malted milk magnate William Horlick was utilized by the Racine School board for another high school named in Horlick's honor. The school building was designed by Racine architect J. Mandor Matson. The school mascot is the panther.

History

The United States historically had a demand for general skills rather than specific training/apprenticeships. High school enrollment increased when schools at this level became free, laws required children to attend until a certain age, and it was believed that every American student had the opportunity to participate regardless of their ability.

In 1892, in response to many competing academic philosophies being promoted at the time, a working group of educators, known as the "Committee of Ten" was established by the National Education Association. It recommended twelve years of instruction, consisting of eight years of elementary education followed by four years of high school. Rejecting suggestions that high schools should divide students into college-bound and working-trades groups from the start, and in some cases also by race or ethnic background, they unanimously recommended that "every subject which is taught at all in a secondary school should be taught in the same way and to the same extent to every pupil so long as he pursues it, no matter what the probable destination of the pupil may be, or at what point his education is to cease."

"High School" is a song by Trinidadian recording artist Nicki Minaj featuring American rapper Lil Wayne for Minaj's reissued second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up (2012). It was released on April 16, 2013, by Young Money, Cash Money, and Republic as the fourth single from the record. The song was written and produced by Boi-1da and T-Minus, with additional songwriting provided by Minaj and Lil Wayne. "High School" is a hip hop and R&B song that lyrically discusses adultery.

Upon its release, "High School" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who felt its production was reminiscent of her earlier mixtape tracks. It peaked at number 64 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and additionally reached numbers 15 and 20 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs component charts. High School is a 1940 American drama film directed by George Nichols Jr. and written by Jack Jungmeyer, Edith Skouras and Harold Tarshis. The film stars Jane Withers, Joe Brown Jr., Paul Harvey, Lloyd Corrigan, Cliff Edwards and Claire Du Brey. The film was released on January 26, 1940, by 20th Century Fox.
