Wink (song)

"Wink" is a song written by Bob DiPiero and Tom Shapiro, and recorded by American country music singer Neal McCoy. It was released in April 1994 as the second single from his album No Doubt About It. Also the second consecutive Number One from that album, "Wink" spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. In 1996, the song received the Robert J. Burton award from Broadcast Music Incorporated for being the most-performed country song of the year.

It is an up-tempo song in which the narrator states that, no matter how he is feeling on a particular day, he feels better once his lover winks at him.

Music video

The music video was directed by Martin Kahan and premiered in mid-1994. It shows McCoy performing the song at an event, as well as trying to get his lover to wink, which she refuses.

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is a fighting game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, DS, and PSP, which ties into the "Marvel Nemesis" comic book series.

Gameplay

The game pitches a series of Marvel heroes and villains, including Venom, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Spider-Man against a series of original EA-created/owned characters. Combat is simplified in favor of allowing the player greater movement, and the game initially drew comparisons to Power Stone, Super Smash Bros. and Ehrgeiz as a result. The video game is based on the Marvel comic book series with the same name, a 6-issue miniseries published from June to December 2005. The miniseries does not depict the events in the game or vice versa, and has a completely different story than the video game. There are even points in the video game story and the comic books that directly contradict each other. The comic does, however, star the same characters as the video game and introduces the EA characters with, aside from one or two minor details, the same background stories and powers. The EA characters are said to be part of the regular Marvel continuity but due to the games' poor response and the fact that they're owned by Electronic Arts, they have only appeared in the above-mentioned miniseries and may never be heard of in the Marvel Universe again.

Wink (soft drink)

Wink is a primarily grapefruit-based soft drink, although it also contains other citrus flavors. It is currently owned and manufactured by Canada Dry in North America, a subsidiary of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group. It was introduced by Canada Dry in 1965.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Wink's advertising billed it as "The Sassy One". The jingle went "Wink, the sassy one, from Canada Dry." For a brief period, Wink introduced a Dr. Seuss-like character called the Wink Gink. There was a Diet Wink Low Calorie version in the mid to late 60's.

Infamously, there was a Wink logo on the sign of the boarding house from which James Earl Ray assassinated Martin Luther King in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968.

In the United States, Wink is available from some bottlers in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

Additionally, Wink is also available in some areas of Canada, and is sold as part of the CPlus brand (the Canadian version of Sunkist).

In 2004, Wink was temporarily discontinued in Canada, as part of a re-launch of the product. Wink was re-introduced several months later as with new packaging as CPlus Wink Twist, a re-formulation that is slightly sweeter than the original.

Ming (typefaces)

Ming or Song is a category of typefaces used to display Chinese characters, which are used in the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages. They are currently the most common style of type in print for Chinese and Japanese.

Name

The names Song (or Sung) and Ming correspond to the Song Dynasty when a distinctive printed style of regular script was developed, and the Ming Dynasty during which that style developed into the Ming typeface style. In Mainland China, the most common name is Song (the Mainland Chinese standardized Ming typeface in Microsoft Windows being named SimSun). In Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea, Ming is prevalent.
