Wide Open (film)

Wide Open (1930) is an American Pre-Code romantic comedy film released by Warner Bros., and based on the novel The Narrow Street by Edward Bateman Morris. Edward Everett Horton has a rare leading role, opposite Patsy Ruth Miller.

Plot

Unassertive bookkeeper Simon Haldane (Horton) is the butt of everyone's jokes at work. Co-worker Agatha (Louise Fazenda) is desperately in love with him. One rainy night, Agatha's mother, with Agatha in tow, visits him at home to insist that he marry her. Outside, two detectives chase a mysterious young woman (Miller), who eludes them by slipping unnoticed into Simon's house and hiding in a closet. When the detectives enter the premises, Simon manages to get rid of them and Agatha and her mother.

Simon discovers the intruder, who calls herself Doris, in her undergarments after she emerges from hiding to dry her clothes in front of a fireplace. Having absolutely no interest in women, he makes flustered attempts to get rid of her. Doris responds by pretending to faint. A doctor (Lloyd Ingraham) is summoned; he insists the woman not be moved for several days. Simon gives her his bed and sleeps in another room.

Born in the Echoes is the eighth album by English electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers, released on 17 July 2015 by Astralwerks in the United States and by Virgin EMI Records in the United Kingdom. It was their first studio album since 2010's Further.

Promotion and release

The album's first single, "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted", was released on 21 April 2015. The second single, "Go", was released on 5 May. "Under Neon Lights" was released as the third single on 23 June 2015, and features St. Vincent, credited by her real name (Annie Clark) on vocals.

The album was released on 17 July 2015.

Critical Reception

The performance of "Go" in the charts propelled The Chemical Brothers back into the mainstream, with DJs such as Annie Mac including it on their playlists of the year. However, some critics believe it was "poppy", and not keeping to their roots. Despite this, the remainder of the album was well received, drawing particular attention to the 1990s sound of singles such as "I'll see you there" and "Taste of Honey". Overall, it proved a moderate commercial success whilst maintaining enough of its distinctly "big-beat" sound that gave it such success with albums such as "Dig Your Own Hole" and "Surrender".

Wide Open (Jason Aldean album)

Wide Open is the third studio album released by American country music artist Jason Aldean. It was released on April 7, 2009 on Broken Bow Records.

The album has thus far produced four singles; three of which have topped the Billboard country singles chart. "She's Country", the lead-off single, became his second number-one hit on the chart in May 2009, and his first number one since "Why" in May 2006. It was followed by the releases of "Big Green Tractor" and "The Truth", which also topped the chart in September 2009 and January 2010, respectively. "Crazy Town" is the fourth single from the album, which peaked at number 2.

As with his first two albums, Wide Open was produced by Michael Knox. This album debuted at #2 on the US Top Country Albums chart.

Content

The first single from Wide Open is "She's Country", which was co-written by former Western Flyer member Danny Myrick. This song reached number one on the U.S. country singles charts in May 2009, becoming Aldean's second number one and his first since "Why" in May 2006. "Big Green Tractor" is the next single, released in May 2009 became Aldean's third number one in August 2009. "This I Gotta See" was previously recorded by Andy Griggs on his 2004 album of the same name. Griggs' version of the song reached #58 on the country charts in mid-2005. Additionally, Trent Willmon previously recorded "The Truth" on his 2008 album Broken In.
