Face (1997) is a British crime drama directed by Antonia Bird and written by Ronan Bennett. It stars Robert Carlyle and Ray Winstone and features the acting debut of singer Damon Albarn.
Five men, criminals Ray, Dave, Stevie, Julian ("Julie" as a nickname), and Jason, plan a heist to steal a minimum of £2 million. Using a truck modified as a battering ram, the group break into a security depot in London and steal a large amount of money before the police arrive. However, they discover they barely got the amount of money they wanted, and only £65,000 to each man. Julian demands an extra amount of money as "expenses" for his work, but is beaten and placed in the boot of Ray's car until he just accepts his share. The group, without Julian, later spend time at a bar with fellow criminal Sonny, and Ray's girlfriend Connie, a protestor. Ray and Stevie also visit an elderly couple, Linda and Bill, where they leave their stolen money for safekeeping.
The next day, Ray and Stevie, who live together with Connie, are alerted by a bruised Dave that his money was stolen, apparently by Julian. Ray, Dave and Stevie investigate Linda and Bill's home to find them murdered and the money stolen, leaving Ray emotionally distraught. He visits Julian but his money is missing too. They conclude that Sonny stole the money and break into his house, only to find Jason dead with a headwound. The four are alerted to a pair of undercover police officers and flee, Dave and Julian engaging in a shootout with the police. Believing that he may be arrested for murder, Ray decides to flee after the money is found, and goes to his mother and Connie for help. His mother gives him some money and her car to use, disappointed in her son's career but still caring for him. Ray then speaks with Connie and asks her to come with him, and to meet her at a roadside service station on the M1 if she decides to come.
Face by British-Jamaican author and poet Benjamin Zephaniah is a novel published in 1999 about a teenage boy who suffers facial injuries in a joyriding accident. Face has also been adapted as a stage play.
Critical reception for Face has been mixed to positive, with Booklist saying "Martin's personal growth may lack literary finesse, but his struggle to overcome adversity will still involve some readers."Publishers Weekly praised the book's message but remarked that the plot was "somewhat formulaic".
Whoa is an interjection, often said when in awe of something.
It may also refer to:
"Whoa" is the second single from the album The Naked Truth by rapper Lil' Kim which is produced by J.R. Rotem. "Whoa" never made it to the Billboard Hot 100 but did make the R&B/Hip-Hop Tracks chart, where it peaked at number 30. Originally sent to US radio on November 22, 2005, it was then re-released in February to coincide with the airing of her reality show, Lil' Kim: Countdown to Lockdown, for which it served as the theme song. It was released in the United Kingdom on May 15, 2006.
Before the album was released, some versions of the "Lighters Up" promo CD and vinyl listed the title of the song as "My Ni*#@s". Due to the lyrics in the second verse, Whoa is heard as a Junior M.A.F.I.A. diss.
The music video for "Whoa" premiered on 106 & Park on February 16, 2006.
The video begins with Kim, her friend/ co-defendant Moe and Zab Judah riding in a car talking. Once the first verse starts, one scene features Kim in a museum with a drink while looking at artwork. In another scene Kim is seen dodging laser beams and hiding from security. By the second verse Kim has stolen a painting and is seen escaping. Meanwhile police ask friends of Kim to leave. By the second chorus Kim is seen returning to the car from the start of the video. Shortly after the song fades into another song "Spell Check" which in one scene Kim is singing the song in front of her car, and in another scene she is seen being forced out of her car and the painting she stole is being returned. At the end the police throw kim in the back of a police truck in an orange suit. The song sharply ends and large text appears that says COMING HOME SOON.
Doris is the debut studio album by Odd Future member Earl Sweatshirt; it was released on August 20, 2013, by Tan Cressida and Columbia Records. Doris follows his first mixtape Earl, which was released in 2010 when he was sixteen. After returning from a forced stay in a Samoan boarding school, he began working on his debut album and signed a deal with Columbia, rather than Odd Future's Odd Future Records.
Doris features guest appearances from Odd Future members Domo Genesis, Frank Ocean, Tyler, The Creator along with Casey Veggies, Vince Staples, RZA and Mac Miller. Production was primarily handled by Sweatshirt under the pseudonym randomblackdude and production duo Christian Rich. Additional production was provided by Matt Martians, The Neptunes, RZA, Samiyam, BadBadNotGood, Frank Ocean, and Tyler, The Creator. The album was supported by three singles; "Chum", "Whoa" featuring Tyler, The Creator, and "Hive" featuring Vince Staples and Casey Veggies.
Upon its release, Doris received widespread acclaim from music critics, who praised Sweatshirt's lyricism and rhyme schemes along with the gritty underground production. The album also appeared on numerous critics' year-end lists. The album fared well commercially, debuting at number five on the US Billboard 200 and number one on US Top Rap Albums chart.
My ears are burning, my back has started to bleed
I've noticed you only contact me when I've got some weed
And when I'm in need to help you with something you need to do
I must have been a fool 'cause now I see the real you
You couldn't even look me in the eye
I knew something was wrong you can't justify, it's all lies
Telling me other's business and telling me how they be
Come to think about it, you could be doing it to me
The pieces of the puzzle are now fitting into place
I know what kind of person you are you're a disgrace
I don't hold a grudge even though what you did
I just can't trust you with absolutely anything
If I see you it just hi and bye keep going my way
'Cause I've got things to do, I've got bills to pay
I've had enough of your two faced company
And that's the way it's going to be
My friend, welcome to reality
Remember the times it was cold outside
Everyone said blurt but I said na come to mind
Hours and hours of blazin', feel fine
Did you think your parents would allow it at that time
I didn't think so well now you know how
It was growing up with ungrateful brothers about
It makes me wanna scream, it makes me wanna shout
Ask what I did for them and their mind blacks out
Day by day pushin' me away others them a turn
Others stayed tried to relate
To make me see I was wrong no it's too late
Back biting, street fighting it the mess that was made
Great, I spent half my life with you guys
Now you want to rush me in front of my mothers eyes
I don't know why you did it and you was high
Two face people die twice, no lie
To all them a boy them a liar, liar
With their mouths on fire, they say it's human nature
They are playing with lives, they slowly burning wire
You'd better be aware 'cause in the end you'll suffer
To all them a boy them a liar, liar
With their mouths on fire, they say it's human nature
They are playing with lives, they slowly burning wire
You'd better be aware 'cause in the end you'll suffer
2 face, two bait when it's written on your face
Two fake, too straight when your out on the estate
After all the lies you've gone and spread about me
You put on your disguise and go on like we're sweet
Who needs enemies when you've got brothers like these
They be smiling when they're with you
But you know it's full of cheese
Oh, please who else be trying to eat up our cake
Two, two, two you're 2 face
'Cause they're the masters of deception
They wanna bring you down
Your phone keeps ringing taking you for a clown
Them threats keep coming make you wanna leave town
Not before you find out who's behind this showdown
Your best friends been makin' others real mad
You're tellin' this dude everything and now it's real sad
He's rollin' with your enemies and now they seem glad
They know all they need and got their pen to the pad
So why do they do what they do against you
Fake arsed brothers you're life they want to screw
It's true when I say all they want is attention
To satisfy their needs with no consideration
To all those people who've got more than one face
You better be on your defense 'cause now we're on the case
The mace that you sprayed has been cleared from my eyes
What comes around goes around you better realize
2 face, two bait when it's written on your face
Two fake, too straight when your out on the estate
After all the lies you've gone and spread about me
You put on your disguise and go on like we're sweet
Who needs enemies when you've got brothers like these
They be smiling when they're with you
But you know it's full of cheese
Oh, please who else be trying to eat up our cake
Two, two, two you're 2 face
2 face, two bait when it's written on your face
Two fake, too straight when your out on the estate
After all the lies you've gone and spread about me
You put on your disguise and go on like we're sweet
Who needs enemies when you've got brothers like these
They be smiling when they're with you
But you know it's full of cheese
Oh, please who else be trying to eat up our cake
Two, two, two you're 2 face
They come down your home pretend to be your mate
But deep inside their souls it's just you that they hate
And whenever you were hungry you placed food on their plate
And any time they were in trouble, you always helped them escape
Indirect or direct they try to put you down
Low down, way down underground with no sound
And all the bullshit that they talk they can't just even hold down
With their mouth full of rubbish they try to spread around
2 face two bait
Two straight, man, you're too fake
Every time we come around you know we penetrate
Any time you come around we must eliminate
2 face two bait
Two straight, man, you're too fake
Every time we come around you know we penetrate
