Whitecross is a Christian metal band that formed in 1985 in Waukegan, IL releasing their first recording in 1987. Their early albums, which often invite comparisons to Ratt, are laced with fast, technical guitar work. In 1994, Rex Carroll split with lead vocalist Scott Wenzel. Scott retained the use of the name "Whitecross" while Rex went on to form King James with Jimi Bennett (see below). At this point the band's sound underwent a drastic change.
Whitecross has won three Dove Awards with Triumphant Return (in 1990) and In the Kingdom (in 1992) winning "Metal Album of the Year" and Come unto the Light from the Unveiled album winning "Hard Music Recorded Song of the Year" at the 25th GMA Dove Awards in 1994.
In 1994 prior to work starting on the Unveiled album, guitarist Rex Carroll left to form the band King James and pursue other musical ventures. In 1998, singer Scott Wenzel took a two-year break to do mission work in Paraguay, South America. During this time, Whitecross went on hiatus before re-emerging at Cornerstone Festival in 2000 when Carroll and Wenzel re-formed the band with Rex, Scott, Michael Feighan and newcomer Benny Ramos providing bass, keyboards and vocals. Finally having achieved a long-sought lineup stability, the band started performing on a regular basis.
Whitecross is the eponymous debut album from the Christian metal band Whitecross, released on September 5, 1987. It reached #17 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Christian Albums chart. In 2010, HM Magazine listed Whitecross #29 on its Top 100 Christian Rock Albums of All Time list stating that "listen to this album. It’ll blow your mind. It’s simplistic ‘80s metal to a fault (think Ratt with Jesus-first lyrics), but the shredding lead guitar by Rex Carroll in every fill, nook and cranny is primo." Heaven's Metal fanzine ranked it #4 on its Top 100 Christian metal albums of all time list.
Crowlas is a village in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated on the A30 about three miles east of Penzance and forms a small conurbation with Ludgvan "Lower Quarter", within the parish of the same name. The hamlet of Whitecross lies to the north.

Used to live my life for fortune
Used to live my life for fame
Always money in my pocket
I just loved playing the game
Strutting down the street's of the city
When Jesus called my name
He said, come follow me
Your life will never be the same
Never
Never the same
Never
Never the same
Never, never!
All I need is you
All I need is you
Now I live each day for Jesus
For soon he will return
He's bringing his reward with him
Satan, he's going to burn
We will all stand before him
On the judgement day
He promised that he will defend us
He'll carry us all away
He'll carry us all away
He'll carry us all away
He'll carry us all away
Away, away!
All I need is you
