White Oak Park

White Oak Park is a 810-acre (3.3 km²) county park in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a part of the county's 12,000-acre (49 km²) network of nine distinct parks.

It is located 15 miles (24 km) southeast of downtown Pittsburgh in White Oak, Pennsylvania.

Oak Park 92105 is Gospel Singer Tonéx's 11th album. It was released under independent label Nureau Ink in 2003 and was a hard-to-find underground release which was later re-released in 2006 on iTunes. The album carries the name of "first Christian-based explicit album". Oak Park (CTA Green Line station)

Oak Park is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system situated between the Ridgeland and Harlem stations on the Green Line. It is located at Oak Park Avenue and South Boulevard in the village of Oak Park, Illinois and is the closest station to the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio.

History

Oak Park station was opened on January 25, 1901, by the Lake Street Elevated Railroad as a surface-level station on the line that ran parallel to the former Chicago and Northwestern Railway line (today's Union Pacific / West Line). Both lines created an unsafe grade crossing, especially as the community moved from horse-powered vehicles to the automobile. When the C&NW elevated its line between 1908 and 1909, it created a blind spot for traffic trying to cross the Lake Street Line.

On October 28, 1962, the station was elevated on an embankment and the main entrance was rebuilt by taking advantage of the small space along the road to include a ticket window and enclosed waiting rooms. When the Green Line was closed for a renovation project in 1994, the CTA had planned to permanently close the Oak Park station along with four other stations (Austin, Laramie, Homan and Halsted). However, due to the political pressure and complaints of residents, the station was retained without being rebuilt and reopened with the Green Line on May 12, 1996. When it reopened, the committee of disabled residents of Oak Park strongly protested it as one of the few stations of the Green Line that is inaccessible to persons with disabilities.

White Oak is a suburban Pittsburgh borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,862 at the 2010 census.

White Oak was named for a stand of white oak trees near the original town site.

History

White Oak was originally part of Versailles Township (one of the original townships of Allegheny County). It wasn't until March 21, 1948 that a petition requesting the formation of White Oak Borough was submitted to the County Court. On June 24, 1948, Judge Russell H. Adams signed the decree of incorporation of the new borough. The first borough building was located at 860 Maple Street inside the old Bowery School.

White Oak is located at 40°20′42″N 79°48′48″W / 40.34500°N 79.81333°W / 40.34500; -79.81333 (40.344869, -79.813202).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 6.7 square miles (17 km²), of which 0.04 square miles (0.10 km²) (0.45%) is water.

Emergency services

The borough maintains its own police department consisting of twelve full-time officers and eight patrol cars. Two volunteer fire departments serve different parts of the borough: White Oak No.1 VFC and Rainbow VFC. Emergency Medical Services are provided by White Oak EMS - a CAAS accredited basic and advanced life support service that includes a level-one wilderness search & rescue team.
